04/03/26 Mount Pleasant Bulletin

Post by jimallen »

Hi, here's the Mount Pleasant bulletin of 4 March. We welcome your comments!

WE AREN'T COOLING OFF!
Union leaders are in no rush to give us feedback on their "cosy chats" with the bosses regarding the attacks on USO. Yet we hear through the grapevine that the "dispute resolution process" has been "superseded" by the new talks between the government and RM! CWU leaders say that there'll be another 2 weeks of intense talks followed by 4 more weeks of talking? When it really takes 10 seconds to say that we refuse their Outrageous Delivery Madness and their attack on the USO. And that we want every worker on the same, best, Ts&Cs!

RENATIONALISATION IS THE ONLY ANSWER!
Oh, but union leaders are glad to see "how seriously the government is now taking this issue". By asking CEO Kretinsky to "explain" himself? Really? When we all know the answer: public service run for profit does not work and is thus incompatible with the USO. So the question really is, when are we going to put renationalisation back on the agenda? Because the union officials have no intention of doing so, busy as they are, performing for the "parliamentary select committee" circus!

PRICES UP, WAGES UP!
And then, of course, there's the question of our pay. Every year, it's the same story: for one reason or another, our pay rise is delayed for months! Prices are going up, aggravated by this bloody war against Iran. We can't afford to wait: waiting an entire year till April is already too long!

PIG-HEADED
Managers on the Platforms are always trying to push us to go faster, to make up for the lack of workers! We've been too few for ages now, but rather than bring back duties which they cut, they insist on trying to make the unworkable work.

HE NEEDS SHEARING
Yes, the Lost Sheep on the Platforms (who is temporarily on Dumbo-Jumbo), has been regularly moving Yorks around. After making his final dispatch mess at the end of shift, we see him pushing two at a time! That's the job of two workers - who we'd rather see back on the Platform - and not just for safety reasons.

NOT IN OUR BACKYARD
In fact, two days after he was put on the D-J, our workmates from there came to plead for Platform to take him back. It seems that the general consensus is that this sheep really should get lost - somewhere else, far away!

PROTECTING OURSELVES FROM THEM
It wasn't that long ago there was that serious accident on the Platform. And whenever an accident happens we get the H&S book thrown at us, while unsafe pressure from managers continues. They need to throw this book at themselves!

SHUSH, BAD DOG!
Since the wanna-be-King Etcetera returned, he's been barking at the acting manager who stepped in during his absence to reassert his imagined authority. It reminds us of one of those bad-tempered Chihuahuas, trying to mark out its (tiny) territory.

WE WANT PAPER PAY-SLIPS BACK!
We do not want to jump through hoops and loops to check our pay electronically, with RM's authentication silliness and stupid passwords. We know HR messes up our pay on a regular basis - particularly when we do overtime or S/A - so we need a simple way to check. And that's what paper slips were for. So if we must now go to the book-room every month to get our payslips printed out, we will - and certainly not in our free time!

SEND THIS ROBIN FLYING
As for their semi-compulsory Robin app: is it so hard for RM to understand that we don't want to use an app which has pictures on it of its managers cheering idiotically!?!

HE'S ASSET-STRIPPING
We hear from mates out East, where many of us live, that both Manor Park and Forest Gate DOs have been sold off for a total of £15m. Forest Gate is closing at the end of March, and the 33 workers are being moved to Leytonstone. Manor Park mates were also meant to be moved there, but that's delayed for 6 months, due to there not being enough space for everyone!

DID THEY SELL THE CAR PARK TOO?
At Leytonstone there isn't a car park for employees. Workers who currently drive in from Kent or Essex and use the car park at Forest Gate, are being told they can't any more. So we're meant to pay through the nose for our own private parking? Or take public transport from outside London? One way or another RM needs to pick up the tab.

LET'S SIGN, BUT...
There is an online petition on the 38 Degrees website (38degrees.org.uk) that says "Stop Royal Mail leaving our letters undelivered!" So far it has 89,000 signatures, so, there are 110,000 to go! Let's all sign - but at the end of the day, we know very well that the only effective way to stop RM's cuts is for us to go on strike!

you don't need to keep the robin app on your mobile,
once registered, copy the new "people app" link address and add it to your favourites in whichever web browser you use, then uninstall robin,
it loads up exactly the same as the old app but with all the tiles needed still there, also no need for the random 3 characters of your password,
it shows you your latest overtime on the variable hours tab, which is a lot better than waiting over a week to notice any is missing
the people app part is probably the only thing they've got right

That's exactly what I've done and simply added it as a shortcut on my phone homepages rather than as an app, I keep mentioning it on here when it crops up hopefully I've helped someone 👍

Here's the direct link to people app via robin if it helps anyone

The direct web link for uniform (https://detail.dimensions.co.uk/royalma ... ount/Login) still works as it did before, though.
