Even on sick pay you are contractually obligated top give your notice period before resigning

That's not a problem. I still have a few weeks on my sick note so will give at least a weeks notice.

I have been off for over 2 months - would any of this full pay need to be paid back ?

Thanks.

No you won't well I can't imagine why you would, so you're on a 'legacy' contract and only have to give a week anyway, the other thing to take into consideration is the new holiday leave year obviously starts April so if you haven't used all your allocation for this year bare in mind they'll probably bollocks it up (it's down to your manager to sort it and tell HR) and not pay you the leave you're owed so with that in mind some might suggest you got your sick note extended to compensate for that before you give the weeks notice.

Nothing lined up, just had time to think and more or less decided to jack it in. Things have changed so much even in 18 years. I've been getting home and just been too knackered to do much. Can't see things improving so time for a change.

So you're on the sick and just decided to leave with nothing better to go to?
Odd to consider leaving with nothing else to go to, and even odder when RM is currently paying you to sit at home watching Homes under the Hammer..
