Prepping and delivering out of date D2D’s
In our office, managers have instructed that surplus and out of date D2D’s will be spread out around the office and they must be thrown in the frames and delivered. Some of these are from July, August Last year, with vouchers for supermarkets and pubs out of date. Where do we stand on this, union not giving much help when I have asked? Can we refuse to prep and deliver?

I'd imagine the answer is you have to do as you're told.
I really hope it has repercussions though.
If the recipients complain to the companies involved or joke about it on social media etc then hopefully the complaints to Royal Mail will flood in.

Its a reasonable instruction. Whatever gets put out to prep is what gets prepped.ViperF wrote: ↑25 Feb 2026, 00:18In our office, managers have instructed that surplus and out of date D2D’s will be spread out around the office and they must be thrown in the frames and delivered. Wouldn’t worry about it, they will all end up in customers recycling bins without a second glance like all the other door to doors we deliver. It’s madness in the digital/AI age of 2026 and green/carbon emissions targets we are still delivering this shite. Absolute waste of resources and trees. Should have been banned years ago.

I know, yet recently they've increased round here, 7 of the bastards next week, had 4 this week, 6 last week, oh and strangely none the week before that which really is a rarity.toonshola wrote: ↑25 Feb 2026, 11:38Wouldn’t worry about it, they will all end up in customers recycling bins without a second glance like all the other door to doors we deliver. Same here, it’s been months since we had less than three. Routinely get 4 or 5. Keep hearing mail is down which I guess is generally true but when you have to prep all this s**t into double slots and deliver it by end of week(supposedly) then your still hitting a high call rate throughout the week which completely offsets the general fall in mail volumes. Try telling that to a manager though, just get a blank stare and a shrug.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑25 Feb 2026, 15:29I know, yet recently they've increased round here, 7 of the bastards next week, had 4 this week, 6 last week, oh and strangely none the week before that which really is a rarity.toonshola wrote: ↑25 Feb 2026, 11:38Wouldn’t worry about it, they will all end up in customers recycling bins without a second glance like all the other door to doors we deliver. Me personally I’d prep and take them, when you run out of time bring them back along with any tracked. Once the tracked start piling up I think the manager will change their stance.

Prep them, deliver them, and if engaged by a customer about them make sure they're informed off the record. You never know if a customer has a third party or higher interest in the fulfillment of that D2D order.
The machine stops.

Re: Prepping and delivering out of date D2D’s
We have a local company that sends them out at least once a month. The owner had friends throughout the area and he regularly complains if they don’t receive it. The result is he gets another mailing for free as compensation. 4 times it’s happened in the last year and a half

Re: Prepping and delivering out of date D2D’s
On our frame we have been told to leave the D2D's they are all pilled up under the fitting. The odd time we have come back to find some chucked in by whoever is on light duties, all singles in double slots
