Im terrible with pensions. All I know is I've paid the top rate pretty much since I joined in 2013 plus I have around £2000 in AVC which I believe went into Scottish Widows.
I'm 53 now!!
I've left RM and have joined the council which is an LGPS scheme and I have a year to transfer anything into it. With that in mind:-
-Who do I contact within RM
-Which pots could I transfer as I may have 2-3 with them in that time. I think the latest plan is the collective one I'm in.
Really I need some independent advice too about what is the right thing to do. I'm not really interested in taking anything out at 55 I don't think. I may have accumulated around £60k in total but unsure so. I don't want to do the wrong thing so any pointers would be great. Thank you

Isn't the LGPS defined benefit? Well done, one of the few left!hewittinspain wrote: ↑14 Feb 2026, 14:45Im terrible with pensions. All I know is I've paid the top rate pretty much since I joined in 2013 plus I have around £2000 in AVC which I believe went into Scottish Widows.

Based on your employment date you were probably in the RMDCP, administered by Scottish Widows. You should have had annual paper statements through the post. You'll need to contact them not RM.

You might have been in the latest CDC pension (started Oct 24) for a short while if you've only just left recently.
This link gives details in that scenario:

This CWU booklet might help you pin down what plan(s) you're in:

This is a government sponsored website for information about pensions (and money in general), you can make an appointment for independent advice through the site as well I believe:
