Then why do we still fulfill the USO. I admit we are not the public servants of old but we do provide a Public Service alongside also being a business. If we were entirley a business then the USO would be withdrawn and we would have zonal pricing. Royal Mail do want zonal pricing though.

I guess RM is 6 of one and half a dozen of the other, neither a full public service nor a commerical business yet, sort of a halfway house between the 2.

USO used to be a public service but it isn't now TBT. It 'just' breaks even with D2D and thats actually all it needs to do to ensure we retain the network and can DSA wherevever we need to.

And as for d2d royal fail makes a good profit off our backs on them ..thank you very much.... and i belive it to be in the region of £18,000,000 not to be sniffed at is it with of course the lions share going into r.m coffers

I'm obviously missing something here due to my mental retardation. RM have one single shareholder, everyone agree? That shareholder is the government, With me so far? That looks like we are public employees.

A mixture of bad grammar, bad manners, bad spelling and multiple personalities who doesn't take anybody elses views on board just rants on that they are fanatics, I suggest that cantype takes a long hard look at himself before he starts ranting on about anyone else.

cantypeANDSHOUTS wrote:clearly fanatical ranting again...make money off our backs for delivering d2d..its your friking job you get paid twice to do it.can you seriously believe what you sprout out.would it help to ease your conscience if they addressed it instead.yes much easier ,instead of putting them in any door you'll have to put them in the correct door and loose the extra payment....question should idiots have the right to vote?
Clearly unaware of the true facts of the case. Before the Union came to an agreement about delivering Door to Doors, no leaflets except those that where addressed to the household direct where delivered by Royal Mail.

In fact RM saw an Business Opportunity and offered the extra benefits of delivering them to their staff which after negotiation we accepted - Was the Union wrong.

So to reiterate we are not paid twice to deliver door to doors we are paid an extra benefit to deliver them call it commission if you want. In your argument with a bit of extrapolation, car dealers should not get commission when they sell a car as after all selling cars is their job. Car Dealers get a commission because its in their contract we get paid for D2Ds because its in our contract, hardly being paid twice to do the same job.

Question do you always think a different opinion from yours is fanatical and do you always call other people who you disagree with idiots- I doubt it otherwise a night out in a pub with you would be extremely boring and probably quite loud. Please I ask once again change the record and don't denigrate others but cogitate your replies and be a productive member of RMC instead of what seems at present an Internet Troll shouting from the sidelines.

Wrong - The shares would not be able to be traded on the stock market because it is not a publicly quoted company. There would have to be a flotation and all the other legal requirements that are needed to be able to sell shares on the open market.

So you are quiet right that eventually shares could be sol on the open market but it would take a lot longer than "tomorrow" and it would break one of Labours Manifesto pledges. In the current political climate I cant see Labour doing that as it would cause a huge back bench rebellion and could cause the downfall of Brown. Perhaps there are some silver linings then to floating RM on the stock market.

Image Could be worse ? , CTS could be the Landlord !, My gaff my rules ( the girl's Brian May's daughter Louisa )

It's getting predictable 1 . Not every one to the left of Dear Old Baroness Barmy is a raving loony Trot , it's a form of bullying i.e. "I'm right , you're wrong ".

2. We don't want to have the clock turned back 80-100 years with the "You've got a job and my god we'll make you grateful for it " , it's 2008 now but you'd be forgiven for thinking otherwise especially with RM Senior & Area Mangers stuck in a 80's timewarp wanting " A change in Culture ">

3. We can read hysterical ranting in The Daily Mail or Express , comparing staff with Radical Islamic Terrorists is a tad melodramatic ?, petty suburban right wing values , corporal and capital punishment ,crime epidemics -Fox News style , ? sport , daft new age astrology and loopy Diana Conspiracy theories -what more could you want ?

4. Leighton has been bullish about the Warwick Agreement and has threatened to throw his dummy out on more than one occasion ( New Labour class him as "High Maintenance which translated means an expensive pain in the arse and/or Prima Donna ) but even Brown can't afford to have a back bench rebellion , let's face it , the Tories did enough self inflicted damge to themselves over Europe , likewise Labour had enough problems with Bennites and the Militant Tendancy in the 80's .

Mr pedantic :speak to the hand did you not see the quotes around the word tomorrow :d'oh! . That was meant to indicate that it would take longer than 1 day.

But still you disappoint by bringing a discussion down to a playground level by calling me Mr Pedantic. Are you able to form a sentence without even a small insult or degrading comment. If you talk the same way as you post you must be looking over your shoulder every day in case someone starts a B&H case against you.

I ask again please do not denigrate opposing members of RMC or their views. Research and prove their position is wrong don't start calling them names.

Treat people the same was you want to be treated.

And all that crap about preparing the lesson .................... how much preparation does it take? 2 + 2 is 4, and 1066 is 1066, - it was always and will be always.
That sounds a bit like a member of the public thinking their postie just picks up a bag of mail delivers to their street and goes home. Indeed read quite a few such comments during our strike, but they were wrong and so are you. Fellow public servants with three consecutive years of pay cuts and the prospect of three more to follow. Do you think that's a good idea?
Rather not like the example quoted. Firstly I actually did go to school contrary to popular belief, shepherded three children through school, and through college and University - so perhaps more than a passing view of postman pat crashing through my hedge and annoying my dog.

Lets take for example "Teacher Training Days" - which always seem to conveniently follow having had a substantial holiday. Next we come to preparing lessons - now who has ever seen a teacher within five miles of the school during a holiday period. Fellow public servants my arsch - when I get their salary for the hours they work and the holidays they get - then we will be fellow public servants.
How ignorant. Do you really think a teacher works 6 hours a day? I'll break it down for you as my wife is a good teacher in an average school, in an area which has a wide catchment.

Working hours 7:30 - 4:30 - if she's lucky (as I type this it's 18:15 and she is still not home, probably in a welfare meeting with social services about one of her kids, teachers have to deal with that kind of stuff too).
1-2 hours a night marking and preparation of materials.
4-5 hours on a Sunday planning for the week.
A minimum of 55 hours a week

Does she get breaks? Rarely because she will be preparing for the next lesson or supervising kids.
Lunch: 20 mins

At 39 weeks a year (even though she'll probably spend a couple of weeks planning as well) that's 2145 hours a year.

Let's say the average person works 40 hours with the minimum 4 weeks holiday 1920 hours a year.

2145 vs 1920 - which would you rather do? And I'm being very generous here as the gap is probably bigger.

Teacher training days are exactly that - training days - they are at work learning new inititives, on courses etc. The timing of the training is just as much for parents as it is teachers.

Teachers have 1 bank holiday a year, as the rest coincide with school holidays.

Teachers don't need to go to school during their holidays, they can work at home. Although most will pop in for a day in the summer holidays to get things ready.

I appreciate that you may have been to school and your children have been to school, but my wife has also put a letter in a postbox and signed for a Special Delivery, do you really think she knows what it entails being a postie?

No I don't - nor do I believe that crock either - did you need help making it up or is it the standard script for teachers on strike? Listen I have taken a great deal of interest in our education system, I live not 300 yards from a school and even the caretaker isn't there at 7.30 in the morning let alone a teacher.

I tried to break it down as asked, you are obviously a very unreasonable person. If you can't listen to a few basic facts then there's no point in continuing this. God help us with idiots like you working for us.

Well don't we always get what we ask for? I would certainly be an idiot if I believed THAT breakdown - 55 hours a week? Strangely enough that was exactly the figure quoted by some wag in a National newspaper - amazing how they all manage to cram 55 hours a week in. However if you consider they are getting 52 weeks pay for 37 weeks work @ 22k a year that works out at £594 a week and someone who works 48 weeks at 22k only gets £458 a week or £10 an hour for each of the 15 extra hours they supposedly work over the 40 hour norm EXCEPT they work 11 weeks less which means they work 165 hours less but they still get paid for them consequently the £10 an hour is inflated even further. That 165 hours equates to 3 weeks teachers work and 4+ weeks ordinary mortals work.

Now that is a breakdown to chew over. In fact they spend so little time at school I'm surprised the kids of today can read and write - well in fact.....................................
