processing airmail through local mail centre
When letters for Airmail overseas land at the local mail centre from post offices, street post boxes etc and all enter the conveyor belt/CFC with local and national UK mail, which obviously has UK postcodes to guide it to the right sorting channel, how is overseas mail seperated out- eg obviously a USA zip code, or a European code will not sort in a UK mail stream and will have USA/australia?france etc as the lowest line of text or writing dependent where its going - Does it just end up being spat out of the sort process as mail with no uk postcode/ freepost name with no postal code/ items with no stamp or old non-coded stamp on etc to be manually sorted into a sack destined for langley hwdc?

Sometimes, different parts of the pipeline can be dealt with in different ways at different mail centres.

Re: processing airmail through local mail centre
On PSM machines in mail centres there are outputs for outward mail and one for “no read” the types of mail you are talking about will end up in one of these output yorks if it goes through the machine, sometimes the operators on the induct stations will spot it and segregate it into their reject bins.
There is a problem with RTS marked mail (inc from or to overseas) as it will have 2 addresses and the sorting machines can often sent it back to the wrong address, we usually do not induct these if spotted.
