How do I work out a week's notice.?

I'm lucky enough to escape RM. Today I've been offered a job starting on the 26th but I want to hand my notice in tomorrow (Thursday 15th) with a week's notice as I get paid weekly.

Is a week's notice Thursday to Thursday inclusive?
Thursday to Wednesday with Wednesday being the last day?
Or 5 working days which would be Thursday,Friday, Saturday,Monday, Tuesday (being the last day?)

Just to add my next midweek day off is next Tuesday 20th.

Critically the above says:

Your notice period starts the day after you resign. This means if you give a week’s notice on Monday your last day at work will be the next Monday.

So my (not expert opinion) and Dr Google, based on the above, if you hand it in tomorrow (Thu) then last day in work is also (next) Thu, unless there's something in your contract/RM/CWU policies that says otherwise.

Can you use a weeks annual leave as notice?
Say tell em Sat morning before going out on your last shift

"lucky enough to escape" Correct words indeed, I've had enough now and can't wait to get out, everyday is just gets you down.. It's odd that people who's been there years n years only need to give a weeks notice, yet new entrants are meant to give a month, the kind of jobs I apply for many employers would not wait that long.. Yeah I guess, not sure what they could do if you don't work your full notice period, I would give two or three weeks, depending on how long a future job offer would wait. I'm at the point now where I'm just looking at any job, jobs I wouldn't even consider normally.

Isn’t there a worst case scenario option you could take in which you just leave and tell them not to pay you if your new employer isn’t willing to wait a certain amount of time?

I think they can hold back a weeks wages if you didn't give a weeks notice.

From what I've read up, apparently they arnt allowed to stop you pay you have worked for, but worst case if they had to employ agency workers to cover you they could put a claim in to recoup the cost

just go off sick for a week they dont pay u ur last weeks wages from what im hearing from other posties who left, i dont know one postie who has left that got paid their last weeks wages just to warn u, i would like u to update us after u leave if u got a weeks wages i bet u dont, why dont u just resign if u really dont want to give a weeks notice

Basic wages aren't paid in arrears, but OT is.
