We don't start until 7.45.
The last lorry doesn't arrive until 8.50.
Leaving the office before 9am is impossible. Ever.

I don't get out the office until after 11am most days. 10:40 on a good day, which are few and far between. Central Scotland.

Do you start later though? I assume everyone does a 7 hour ish shift? Or is your day shift shorter?

Same region. Hours of daylight are wasted in the office sorting Tracked.

The only way it'll be equalised is like the Network Review in 2007: uniformly later starts for everyone regardless of location. Enjoy your 9AM first letter while you can.

Some leave a wee bit earlier than that, people who dont have their meal relief indoors etc, but yeah mostly 10:30-10:45 is around the average time for people departing. I have my full 40 indoors so im usually a wee bit later than that. I'd say on average just after 11am.

Not just north of the border this is happening. Luckily we probs get about 20 minutes extra working time in the light than yourselves. Whoopdie doo!

I remember how annoyed we all were when our finishing time was moved to 3pm (including Saturdays) when the changes that included shared van duties were introduced into my office. That was in 2010.

Overtime ban this morning, 249 tracked and mail since monday to be told be back on your time.

No issue but its a crazy way to run a business.

It's not "running a business", but RM managers seeing their manhours budgets getting close to being used up, and if that happens they lose their bonuses.
The end of the financial year is approaching, as is the time when their bonuses will be calculated.

The business would rather pay another fine from OFCOM than employ more folk to deliver the mail. It will work out cheaper for them.

What the regulator needs to do is heavily impose a bigger fine so is that the business has to employ. The regulator is to soft and the vicious cycle will continue every year until mail is a thing of the past.

No overtime ban in ours yet, but the drums are beating in the distance.
Noticeably less people working days off though (after being asked/begged).

The purists in ours who believe that no-one should ever do overtime seem a bit perplexed as to why their run doesn't go out when they are off.
