Overtime ban incoming, allegedly
COM and 2 managers said this morning that next week the early start/30hrs crew (our DO is practically 60% PT staff now) will have to fight over Royal Mails offerings of overtime, and no pay for going over.

Mail will just keep piling up then, no way to complete two walks with all the packets and the oversize in normal duty time.. They tried this same time last year, didn't last long before the overtime was back.

It's probably an indication that they have spent too much, and now need to claw some if it back.
It won't last too long.

Which breaks first, the posties who *need* overtime or the doors of each delivery office bursting undelivered mail onto the streets

You have a start time and a finish time. Take your morning break and don’t leave the office before 9am ever.
I know who will break first.
I know who will break first.

Because they get a percentage of any O/T savings made?yellowbelly wrote: ↑01 Jan 2026, 18:12![]()
Yep, it only lasted a few weeks until a Regional Director came out with his lackeys to find out why numerous rounds were failing after 'peak' and was told by the shop floor. It seemed some local managers had 'extended' the OT ban beyond what was required. Wonder why?

Overtime ban? Good. It won’t last once the parcels start piling up.

We don't start until 7.45.
The last lorry doesn't arrive until 8.50.
Leaving the office before 9am is impossible. Ever.

Well most people in our office do unpaid overtime coming in early and not taking breaks, will they ban them as well? I doubt it as these mugs are saving the business a fortune and the manager benefits from these fools, still can’t believe these idiots keep coming in early unpaid and then they complain about extra lapsing! You can’t make it up

Re: Overtime ban incoming, allegedly
Its all to do with one thing and one thing only this overtime ban.... if they can mess the man/woman who actually does a lot of overtime up for a week or two it means they dont have to pay holiday/overtime holiday pay down the line.. this is about nothing else.. I dont care to much about it but I thinks its 8 hours or something every month and if the cycle is broke then royal mail are delighted..
