Bank Holiday Entitlement
I work 4 days per week total of 29.6 hours my non working day was Boxing Day so I am entitled to a bank holiday credit for this day, according to this attachment from the RM policies page I am entitled to receive the same amount of credit as a full time member of staff because I work 4 days, However our duty clerk has only credited me with 5.92 hours as that is 1/5 of 29.6 when I have queried this he refers to some CWU document that he works off in which he says I only get a pro rata credit, can anyone else who works part time shed any light on this for me ?.

Re: Bank Holiday Entitlement
Do you work differing number of hours for the four days or do you simply work 29.6 divided by four for each day, no matter what day of the week it is?Wat69 wrote: ↑31 Dec 2025, 10:13I work 4 days per week total of 29.6 hours my non working day was Boxing Day so I am entitled to a bank holiday credit for this day, according to this attachment from the RM policies page I am entitled to receive the same amount of credit as a full time member of staff because I work 4 days, However our duty clerk has only credited me with 5.92 hours as that is 1/5 of 29.6 when I have queried this he refers to some CWU document that he works off in which he says I only get a pro rata credit, can anyone else who works part time shed any light on this for me ?.
I would have thought you would have been credited with the same number of hours you normally work on the Friday (26th).
Unless someone can offer another explanation....?

You'll be paid whatever the hours you normally work for that day.

Re: Bank Holiday Entitlement
Policy confirms, as you stated, that if you work a 4 day week you are entitled to 8 Bank holidays
Annual Holiday Policy-
Bank and public holidays
Guide for employees
This table shows how to calculate an employee’s bank holiday entitlement. It is based on a year when there are eight bank holidays.
The number of bank and public holidays in a year may vary depending when Easter falls and the granting of one-off public holidays by the government.
(Edit Of Table)
Number of days worked per week - 4
Calculation - Full Bank Holiday entitlement
Number of bank holiday entitlement days due (rounded to nearest half day) - 8
Also;
Bank and public holiday entitlements for part-time employees Royal Mail Group (except HR Services) Part-time employees who work at least four days a week:
Are entitled to the same time off as full-time employees
If their work pattern means that they miss a bank or public holiday the time off should be given as close to the particular holiday as possible
If an employee works three or fewer days a week:
The total bank holiday entitlement should be reduced pro-rata to a five day week (rounded to the nearest half day)

Re: Bank Holiday Entitlement
The same time off but not the same number of hours allocated for that time off.
