I have nothing to do with why we have unmanageable workloads as the guy next to me does what I intend to do in the new year.
Could I ask if Walter stood or attended the picket lines on any of the 18 days of the strike?
Odd question to ask.

Walter i had the same problem and it's tough as us oldies were used to delivering everything everyday, i'm glad you have seen the light and try not to feel guilty when they ask where the mail is, i just told them to blame RM and let them complain too them. Good luck going forward but really it's probably best to leave or retire as it's going to get worse probably.

I was the same. Had a rural round , friends with many customers all first name terms and going over and beyond for them. Came in one week and they restructured the office and kicked me off. After that I didn't give a s**t and no more "" free time "". Learn one thing. You are a number against a duty. Any unpaid work means a billionaire can afford a bigger yacht.

I'd hate to think. But it was a different world back then. The 1000s of hours ghost overtime more than made up for it. Once I gave up overtime it really wasn't worth it. I often wondered how many hours worked and how many hours paid 😆 best memory was at Wembley at a FA Cup final and still getting paid overtime .

I'm guessing 2026 will also bring us the delights of some sort of odm rearing it's ugly head again, goodness knows what ridiculous ideas they've been thinking up since it went on hold :thumbdown

Off this coming week but when I return to work in the new year I will be completely changing my attitude to and my daily input/output to my daily shift.

No more coming in 15 minutes early to throw my 1st tray in or d2d’s etc.

No more rushing round out on delivery in order to complete the round.

No more working through my mail relief.

No more working past my finishing time.

From now on I will only be taking out half of my round(mail) or less depending on the volume and bringing back what I can’t deliver after prioritizing the specials and tracked items.

And before people ask and moan why I did the above before now changing I’ve been in the job 26 years and on the same rural duty for over 10 years and built up a rapport with the customers especially the older/retired on my round and felt obliged to try and give them their important letters i.e. NHS, bank and other important letters etc every day.

In short my body is f#cked(bad back) and I’m sick of getting home 1-2 hours after my time and being knackered for the remainder of the day.
I made this decision over 30 years ago, it was the best decision ever.
CUT OFF!!!

Happened to us last year, manager was blatantly shortchanging people and overpaying his usual guys. A different manager came to me and pretty much admitted/apologised saying it gets vetoed above them
So, recognised and serious financial fraud involving various grades and members of staff?
Either the stuff of BS or time to call IB/Whistleblowers.
I suspect the former.

Not necessarily, it's easy to paint something as a binary either/or issue on here. When you're on the shop floor, have an unrecorded/unwitnessed conversation, perceive an incident as something untoward, it's a totally different matter to spend your own time reporting and risk your own livelihood with the possibility of not providing enough/solid evidence or identifying yourself as the complainant because of that comment the manager made to you.

Aren't you in one of those offices that does the 6th day of the week on S/A overtime?
I agree, that it should be a thing of the past, as those type of arrangements were brought in when the job was a hell of a lot easier than it is now, not to mention the staffing issues it must cause when people are off.
Those type of arrangements will have been brought in by a vote amongst staff, and no doubt many of the original 'yes' voters will have left now, with the rest picking up the tab. If your office as a whole is sick of working the 6 days i suggest a vote to get rid of it. Or you can do it individually by serving notice of your intention to not perform S/A anymore.

Can you individually do that or is the S/A tied to the duty you're on, so if you bin the S/A you're effectively saying I can't/won't do the attached main duty either - thereby end up pushing a HCT round the streets? I can imagine that would be the way some managers would see it.
