Anyone else

Post by enzio1272 »

Anyone else just had enough of this job ?
I know it’s Christmas pressure and it will soon be over, but I generally feel like my time is done worked in RM for over 30 years now.
But honestly not sure I can keep going , the workload seems unachievable even in the quite times, every week there’s appear to be a new development, locker or new thing to do in the same time.
I know you only have to work your time, but there is a pressure in the job now that wasn’t there before all the changes.
The work life balance is none existent now especially since we are one weekend in six.
I was hoping it hang on for evr but doubt I’ll make it.

Apologies for moaning think I just needed to vent

I feel you mate, you are absolutely knackered when you get home every day now.

So much pressure on a morning sorting through all the tracked and trying to get out on time, managers being w*****s, as you say they keep bringing in new stuff for us to do.

Stress stress stress

In a strange way it helps knowing it’s not just me, but it’s sad that people are feeling this way, it’s not like we’re on huge money , don’t get me started on The absolute tragedy of the new contract it’s a disgrace what’s happened to them, so many promises no wonder they leave in droves

I have had a lovely time for most of this year. You know, working on my own, summer sun shining, workload achievable. Virtually no arguments with management..... job is absolute bliss.....

Come December, workload is ridiculous, management harassment is back and I'm back in a negative frame of mind thinking 'WTF am I doing working for these managers'.

In fairness in our office it’s probably the easiest time we have ever had, managers have completely given up and say it’s too much as well. Just do what u can do and it’s not questioned, there’s no pressure from managers. We do have a strong CWU branch which helps but we are just left to get on with as much as we can do. Most are happy with that.

You sure said it right with the "quite times" I think them days are gone, Tuesday and Saturday use to be days to look forward to, now with the ever increasing tracked of all sizes I think them days are over. Parcels will just continue to grow, collections on my round are ever increasing, I get collections now with just letter size items where the person is just to lazy to go and post them.. I think having two, three or even four days of mail to catch up on will just be the norm for most DOs

It is so easy now. Managers don't have a clue what is going on. Even if they did, there is nothing they can do about it.

We've recently had a new boss come into our office & she's an absolute bi**h, I'm a singleton & she decided that I have spare time on my duty & she's put all the oversized parcels from a HCT duty onto my duty. She's told me to ensure I do all the parcels & manage the mail on my own round. When I tell her ( quite often after 11am when I'm leaving the office ) I'll be leaving mail in she looks at me like I'm a piece of dirt & doesn't trust me. I'm nearly 59, 37 years service & the senior man in our office. I've just sent my pension paperwork off & will be leaving in February and I'll be telling her what I think of her when I leave.

What finished me was not the physical side. It was the mental side. Customers having a go at me because I have delivered to the wrong address. After wacking my brains trying to think what I've done , then finding out it was the afternoon staff. Or they scanned not accessible when the customer was in and couldn't be bothered to find the address. Scan in scan out dog sticks Hi Viz scan 24 leave 48 . Throw parcels out. Today take them. First class only door to door 6 lots. They must go... leave them Door step. Don't door step As someone said. What should be the easiest job in the world is made incredibly stressful by people in suits trying to justify their jobs.

Well over 3/4 of duties in MCs are parcels. Outside of Xmas Pressure, flats and manual letters volumes are so low that you can get away with just two or three people on each for most of a shift, sometimes you only need one.

We had a guy approaching retirement who used to do 2 loops a day. Bugger all they could do about it. Put your feet up until you retire. :dance

On my old duty I had to collect a letter from a guy at least 4 times a week(letter size) when there was a postbox 60 seconds from his front door it would drive me 😠

I've just quit after 2.5 years on the new contract.

One Saturday off in the whole time I was there. And that was probably a mistake.

Enough.
