Exhaustion?

Post by Newpoet »

I did 14.5 miles today. Had tea and fell asleep about 6 haha. Is this normal? Happens most days, my girlfriend isn't happy though she doesn't say it I can tell. I do like the job generally. Is there a way around this?

Thanks all

You must be out on delivery for a long time to clock up those miles

Some of that includes walking to work and general walking around the office etc. so probably 11 on delivery.

Not really. Get on a rural job if you can or find a new job that doesn’t require so much walking.

You could walk a bit slower so you don't have to walk so far. Could cycle/drive/bus to work. I'm often pretty knackered each day walking 9-12 miles. The only answer is to leave but the hours and the old contract pay rate are decent. Plus being out on delivery isn't bad most days. Just hard work.

I mean the obvious thing would be to somehow stop walking to work and back. I'm going to assume you don't have a car. Are you in a position to get one?

Are you exhausted everyday or just every now and then? Sometimes I'm knackered and fall asleep in the afternoon, sometimes I can stay up till midnight.

17 miles a day here, you get used to it and the one good thing about walk delivery is you get very fit unlike most of your same age peers

I'm going to get a bike! The car park is extremely limited here. Some nights I fall asleep around 6! Not good. But then again I lay down haha which is a mistake

I dont eat anything during delivery or drink much really so I don't need to pee too much

That's a mistake. Make some sandwiches and take them into work. Eat bananas - if they are good enough for top tennis players they are good enough for us. Also, take a pee when necessary - pubs, cafes, shops, supermarkets. Work your hours.
Get your sleep in - anything less than seven hours and you are compromising short term performance and long term health. And, note, hours lost on even one night can't be caught up the following night or with a lie-in at th eweek-end - sleep doesn't work like that. Don't take my word for it - google it - sleep research is advancing every year .

Lack of toilets is a big problem on some walks
