Update this Thursday

Post by ted_e_bear »

Just received this from the CWU WhatsApp update, hopefully some good news.

ROYAL MAIL UPDATES

Your Royal Mail Questions Answered with Dave Ward and Martin Walsh | CWU LIVE

On Thursday at 5pm we will be LIVE with General Secretary Dave Ward and Deputy General Secretary Postal Martin Walsh.

This is a really important session and we update members on the latest news from negotiations with Royal Mail but crucially seek their support for the unions position.

Please tune in. We are asking every CWU rep to back the unions position live on the night.

Sounds ominous to me with the ''accept the union position''
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

They say they seek members support for the "union position" which to me could possibly mean they have got nowhere with the company big wigs and are proposing industrial action. Or more likely they've totally backed down and want our support on that. If its the latter then I will immediately cancel my subs because no way can they persuade me that we should accept a two tier workforce. If its the former (ie strike) then it will only be supported by members on new contracts and therefore won't get past a vote, I'd happily strike but most of my fellow new starters are either not union members, or morons or both.

Strike action just isn't going to happen.
But...I don't think there is any harm in the CWU using the threat of it around this time of the year.
Last thing the RM want is the media etc latching on to the idea/making customers jittery.

There's probably 3 to 4 tiers of pay in RM and that's not going to change any time soon

Me too but it would require union backing and a resolution passed by vote otherwise if people just decided to do it without union backing they'd be instantly sacked for non attendance

There is no big update. What you see with your own eyes is the reality. Don't listen to these pair of clowns spouting yet more bollocks. The CWU know full well the way it is, it's business as usual. All this is about is trying to make you believe that the CWU is relevant. That relevance is what you see and experience everyday. Starve this lot of the oxygen they crave - your money. Stop paying these people to lie to your face. Get them where they belong, in the bin of history.

Needing support tells its own story if it was going to be good news it would just be "an update following the talks", whilst the usual suspects want to keep on kicking the CWU it's a sad state of affairs when EGP make promises before the takeover only to, it seems, then go back on the agreement.
