Evri 'sorry' as Edinburgh woman's parcel 'dumped on doorstep then stolen by local'

Stacey, 49, caught the moment her Shein parcel was stolen from outside her home in Southside on October 9 after a courier left it without knocking or ringing her doorbell.

An Edinburgh woman has been left raging after a parcel reportedly 'dumped at her door' was then 'stolen'.

Stacey, 49, caught the moment her Shein parcel was taken from outside her home in Southside on October 9 and claims a delivery driver left it without knocking or ringing her doorbell.

Speaking to Edinburgh Live, she claims the Evri courier arrived at her property to drop off the package but she was not alerted after it had been delivered. She said he left the item in plain sight by her front door.

Later on, a man was captured on doorbell footage passing her home and swiping the package. After a few weeks, it was eventually returned as a neighbour confronted the culprit.

The incident has resulted in Stacey being "too scared to order online" after apparently experiencing a number of issues with Evri.

She added: "I have complained a few times, but there is one courier who just dumps my parcels and leaves - he doesn't knock or ring and it’s been so hard to speak to someone. I was in the house when he left it but I had no idea it was there.

"I then saw this guy passing and he just lifted my parcel from my doorstep. I did actually get it back eventually after one of my neighbours confronted him but I didn't have it for ages.

"I think if it wasn't left outside, it wouldn't have been stolen in the first place. Evri are just so bad in our area and when you try and contact them, it's impossible. I think they're service is shocking.

"Honestly I am too scared to order anything now because you never know if you are going to get your parcel which isn't ideal as we're coming up to Christmas."

Edinburgh Live understands a 'gesture of goodwill' has been extended to Stacey and Evri have apologised after the ordeal.

An Evri spokesperson said: “Delivering great service is at the heart of everything we do, and we’re sorry that this has fallen below the standards we expect on this occasion.

"We have apologised to Stacey, offered her a gesture of goodwill and we are retraining the courier as we expect every parcel to be cared as though it is for a family member.”
