the 10pence rate is a massive own goal and to think the Labour Party is prepared to penalise the poorest in our society is a disgrace. they have allowed the Capitalist Elite to Privatise Profits and now their accesses have gone tits up , Nationalise Losses and make us all pay for it. i had a good chat with a decent Independent guy the other day and that is where my vote will go, i hope the Labour party and the Tories get slaughtered. it is about time the ordinary person came first, all this crap about we need people like Leighton and Branson and dont worry because there will be a trickle down affect is Boll@2?s.

this is a small part of an article i have just read and goes some way to explaining what i mean:-
The bourgeois continually tell us that we are in a boom. According to the books this is a record setting boom - in terms of the profits of the multinationals and the enormous, and frankly disgusting, salaries of their respective CEOs and board members. But this is a peculiar boom in that it has meant nothing for the working class. An economic boom generally means that the bourgeois can afford more reforms for the working class - improved wages, working conditions, as well as improved provisions from the welfare state. But what has this boom meant? It has meant, as mentioned above, wage cuts, mass sackings, "downsizing", etc. This is a boom erected on the backs of the working class - on the squeezing and application of more pressure on the workers.
Even as this boom appears to be nearing its ignominious end, the working class is mobilising. As the exact nature, i.e. the depth and duration of the coming "correction" cannot be known in advance, neither can the response of the working class be known. A serious slump could take the wind out of the sails of the working class. However, on the other hand, after years of attacks, a serious slump may be just the thing that sets off an explosion of the class - the momentum is certainly there.

I live in London and I have absolutely no idea. Ken Livingstone has cozied up to the City and the big developers but other than that, he's always been a reliable leftwing sort of guy. And Boris Johnson would be a disaster. So I guess I'm going to hold my nose and give Red Ken my first preference vote.
It's better with the assembly. There you've got the Greens, the Left List and the George Galloway/Respect slate. For once, it's a question of picking the best and not just the best of two or three evils.

I don't think anyone should confuse local politics with National Government. Nor should they confuse new labour with socialism but it's still better than the Tories. Another Tory Govt the likes of Thatcher and we'll be living in mud huts and touching our forelocks again. All politicians lie and make promises they can't possibly keep.

I am as well, as the canidate is old school Labour and is very pro trade union, he is the sort of fella we would like to see more of in the Labour Party.
Conservatives have had control of the council for over 30 years, im in John Majors old patch which is a conservative stronghold. Too many rich folks in all the villages voting tory. I the Green partuy were standing in my ward then i would struggle to decide between therm and Labour.
Voting Labour at local level does not mean i will vote them at National level!
