Unless a “must watch” briefing takes place this Friday then we must assume that equalisation talks are not going well. The “Transaction “ date was June 2nd. September 3rd now and the statement below laid out the timetable. If a first step had been agreed they would be shouting from the rooftops.

If it was agreed the first step would be confirmed this week then surely extensive talks must have already taken place regarding the first step but we've heard nothing from the CWU to even suggest talks have commenced, let along an update on where they stand with the talks?

What is the latest on this? I'm a new starter in October...has anything been equalized pay wise or paid meal breaks?

However, I am on a legacy contract and work alongside people who earn more than me because they still receive certain supplements that I don’t receive.

I'm on a legacy contract, but there are people that get £30+ extra a week more than me for being a 'workplace coach' - basically training new recruits....
Yet they get this payment every week even if they are not training anyone.
On top of this... they simply go out on 1 round with a new recruit and do a bit of training and then share a 1 man duty for just 1 week, give inadequate training and then pass the new postie onto regular posties (who don't get the extra money) to do the proper training for weeks and weeks until the new recruit is up to speed.

Very few new recruits know they’ll be on less money than a co worker for doing the exact same job every before they sign up for the job.postmanplod2025 wrote: ↑12 Oct 2025, 20:45yeah its great being on the legacy contract we get delivery supplements every week and a monthly bonus! more wage an hour! but no point in people in new contracts complaining u see the deal when the job advert comes up so stop whining
It’s not a nice feeling knowing you are and always will be on almost £2 less an hour than the person next to you for doing the exact same work. Luckily at the DO I work at everyone thinks the same.

I still think they'll do something eventually to level up the new contracts. Otherwise the union loses all credibility and ceases to exist when they can't get new people to join and the older people retiring etc. I just can't imagine they've been lying about this as such a charade would inevitably damage them in the long run. More like some fairly sharp upper management have run rings round them intellectually and totally got the upper hand in the negotiations.
CWU say the delay is because the issues with the USO trials have taken up all the discussions thus far. This might actually be true. I'm hoping thats the case and that Woody is not right about them lying.

I don’t believe they ever will level up. If you owned RM why would you?Jonathan Alsatian wrote: ↑12 Oct 2025, 22:19I still think they'll do something eventually to level up the new contracts. Completely disagree, all employees, new and legacy should be complaining more urging the CWU to get this resolved asap.postmanplod2025 wrote: ↑12 Oct 2025, 20:45yeah its great being on the legacy contract we get delivery supplements every week and a monthly bonus! more wage an hour! but no point in people in new contracts complaining u see the deal when the job advert comes up so stop whining
You also don't see the true deal, the job applications don't state you will not have a paid meal relief, paid less than your colleagues etc etc.
