to my knowledge it is up to the members in your office and your rep witch way you go in my office we have 40 mins before we go out on delivery. but i know in others they do 20 20. if you take your meal relief out of the office you leave your self open when you book it on the end as i have had to argue the point that you have not had it

meal breaks
just been informed by line manager we will be forced to take 20 min break before we leave office
(we dont usually do this)reason -to enable all p-time floaters /temps etc. to get ready in time with us to leave office and get lift out.
conveyence big issue here they took all our vans drivers out in cuts now dont have enough staff to drive us to delivery points.
we currently have p-timer (driver)to take us out .he starts at 9am. to complete duty on time we require to leave office at 9.05am not a lot of scope there . p-timer always late as he hangs about for ot.
we were leaving with another driver full time now he has been told to leave us wait and take p-time staff out
making him late as well.all of us involved 5-10 miles from del office and takes 20 -30 min to drop offs.not including bags.
can they force us to take breaks for the sake off p-timers who do not need to take their breaks or rest of office who del nearby do not need to take breaks.think this might be victimisation or discrim.
also can we be forced to take rest of break on street during duty or can we insist on return to office to complete break
in dry conditions etc.surley they cant force you to take a meal rel. in pissin rain on streets.

The best thing i would say is too all take your full forty mns before you leave the office. If you then cant deliver mail within time cut off or claim over time. It come to something when managers are actualy enforcing workers rights. 20 before + 20 after in our office.
Laughable really as the time we are due to leave the office includes the 20minutes meal relief - it would be nice to be able to have this meal relief and get out of the office at that time... Dreams eh!
As for 318 - it's a non-entity these days thanks to flexibility, some people think it still exists, managers tend to deny its existence, or they will claim that it is merely a guideline and not to be strictly followed..
