Evri jobs boost as 300 Barnsley roles created after £29m investment

Evri, one of the UK’s largest parcel delivery companies, is to create up to 300 jobs in Barnsley as part of a £29 million investment, the company announced today.

The investment will include £25 million to create a third tier within the South Yorkshire factory’s existing structure. This involves a third conveyor belt, adding to the two already existing at the superhub. A further £4 million will be invested in a new small item sorter, which will help handle smaller items more efficiently and quickly.

Construction is expected to finish by August 2026, and Evri says it will mean the superhub in Barnsley could process 5.5 million parcels a day by Christmas 2026. The company said that 80% of the jobs at the superhub were filled by people who lived in the surrounding area since it was created in 2022. It also said hundreds of additional courier roles have been created across Yorkshire ahead of what is expected to be another record-breaking peak this year.

Evri is also expanding capacity in Southampton, Bury and building a new depot in Belfast.
