Last week my PDA went missing in the office after I had returned from my break. Previously I'd scanned all indoor tracked and then it was all ready for outdoor work.
It turned out someone had actually picked up my PDA from my fitting (don't ask me why) and had gone onto duty but claimed the PDA was "logged out" which I find had to believe.
Whilst I was looking for the PDA I told my manager who said I should be taking it out on break with me and not leaving it on my fitting as it's a breach in data protection. I told her I left it in a royal mail office .
How is that classed as data protection breaching when I leave a PDA ON MY FITTING when I'm on a 20 mins break?
It's complete bollocks. In a MC PDAs are left in our work areas when we're off at breaks and lunch. They only get returned to the cabinet at the end of the shift.
To protect confidential data you wouldn’t leave a workplace PC logged in and unattended. You would lock it to screensaver so that it requires a password to reopen. The same principle surely applies to logged-in PDAs, ie, you keep it on your person or you log it out.
There is various data about you on the PDA, not limited to performance, driving licence number etc.
Does it have you driving licence number on it.
I didn't know that, hardly a massive breach of personal data if it doesn't.
Doesn't have your phone number or bank details on it, don't see how it's a data breach.
Scanning tracked into it is not a data breach surely.
Who gives a f**k your pay is s**t ,your workload is unachievable you get bullied everyday, you do not have any idea how much pension you will get, oh let me worry about data protection, tosses
An easy way to fix this is have the device need a 4 digit code every time the screen wakes. Have them auto lock after a brief period of inactivity.
You may recall that was disabled many years ago. It was a massive pain in the arse on delivery trying to unlock the screen in the rain.
Yeah that would be a right laugh these days having to input a pin as well as pressing the unlock button that barely works then the scan item button that also barely works every time you need to scan something

I find wet weather mode or whatever it is called works pretty well nowadays. At least compared to my watch and phone but yeah you are right, it would be an extra faff each time. Maybe just have it when you need to access the main menu and not when in outdoor?

The PDA is absolute shite in the rain and you know it.

Maybe it has been improved since you actually were a postie years ago? Either way your consistent ignoring of mod instructions are being reported so think of another shite username for your inevitable re-registration. As you are now added to my foe list I bid you farewell. Hopefully you get the attention in the real world you crave on here.

Have you not sussed that Lou & Smoothbackground ate the same person yet? Go back over their posts….same comments and POV using the same terminology so no point in debating with one because all you’re doing is arguing with the other!!

How have you “sussed” that one out? Do Lou and I have the same or similar IP address? Is our vocabulary, syntax and sentence formation the same? Do we work in the same office? Go on, share your no doubt detailed analyses and comparisons from going back over our respective posts and highlight your “evidence” for us all to see.
In fact, let’s just short-circuit it. Your Spidey senses are waaay off. You’re in the wrong job, Sherlock, and are making yourself look more than a tad silly. I will categorically confirm here and now that I am not the same person as the poster LouBarlow. I suggest you apologise for casting aspersions. The only one in this thread breaking forum rules is/was SkiSunday — and now potentially yourself. Please back up your spurious allegation with your evidence or, failing that, withdraw it and apologise.

The wet weather mode does seem to help somewhat. I find the Sun and reflections a problem - you cannot read the darn thing and I always seem to be tilting it one way or another. A battered screen protector also doesn't help. Luckily the summer doesn't last too long. Doh!
