RM can't bring anything in without union agreement.
I hope you're right but I'm not convinced :pray

If 2 people are being sent out to do tracked and 1C on a single duty be prepared for that duty to be made huge.
You'd be doing triple mail on the other side though.
Between 2 people, an increase from 50-70% call rate. An extra 20 minutes?
Per loop?

You tell me. Are you saying that a duty with say, 8 loops of mail takes 8x20 minutes longer to deliver (2hrs 40) when it has 2 days mail vs 1?

Yes, like when they imposed a 2% pay rise, imposed unworkable revisions and imposed the new crap contracts.

A manager today said that RM still want to force the uso changes through next month.

I believe RM are being pressured into making the USO changes they insisted they needed to survive

Not just RM. CWU are saying the same. Which is why any alternative plan they give needs scrutiny.

Remember, any ODM isn’t being designed to ‘fix’ offices - they are looking at it as if the office currently clears.
So the question is: are senior management unaware of the chaos at the coalface (implying, ahem, the facts on the ground are not being reported correctly) or do they simply not care? Or to invoke the ancient dichotomy: malice or stupidity?
The machine stops.

It'll be plan A

Paired duties: 4 into 3. No 2c mail on Sat.
Rurals and Firms : no change except Sat when it's 1c, tracked specials on 2 walks.

Quality of service trashed, then come back to the Govt for further downgrading of the USO in a year or two pleading " unsustainable" again.

CWU's rather pathetic " objections" are irrelevant.

I have thought this was the plan all along.

Just read an article that says RM are back in profit.
If that's the case then we don't need 3/4 7/8 11/12 do we.

Have RM ever considered that they could improve the service and grow the amount of business and then make more money that way? You know, have adequate staff, give industry leading service and attract new customers. It's always short sighted cuts and more cuts. Backwards business practice.

We have no duties with only 8 loops, but I think the sarcasm went over your head. A 20 minute loop with one day’s mail, is now a 30 minute loop with 2 and 3 days mail, it takes longer to prepare, double slots already filled and the bags are heavier.
So on a shared duty with 14 loops on each it is now taking about an hour and a quarter extra on each side. There’s a lot of mail either not going out or being taken back. We couldn’t complete before and we are not a trial office

Plus splitting bags down because of volume will take longer. A half hour loop could easily take an hour if it’s packed out.

The double mail part is on ONE side of duty, be it a single van, HCT or shared van. So anything from 4 loops for 1 person to 8 loops for 2 people.
My point is that the extra time taken to do that will easily be saved on the other side of the duty that is only getting parcels and 1C letters.
Therefore - no savings made.

As I’ve said before, I do t think they care that duties are currently not completed.

To use the example above that it takes 1hr 15 more to do 7 loops of double mail. How much time does it save on the other side of the shared van only doing 1C and tracked?
Youd basically be treading water, taking resources from one side and using it on the other.

I guess it all depends on whether Royal Mail are happy to force through change that apparently won't work, will likely lead to much bigger fines from Ofcom, continue to piss off staff leading to higher staff turnover and continue to have the reputation of not being a reliable service.

Even if Royal Mail can just walk right through the union....do they actually want all the mess and fines that will come with it.

Ofcom have already reduced the USO requirements so Royal Mail can do better financially. It's up to Royal Mail to set things up effectively and efficiently within that framework. Problem is they are incompetent at working out who to do this.
