I don't understand the light and heavy days, if one postie is doing the full duty on one round and the other just Tracked etc on the other, where's the company saving any money as they still have to employ two posties to cover the two duties?
I thought it was two posties taking one walk between you and then you both go and do the 1C and tracked off the other walk.
The money would be saved as you are also doing some part of another duty which in effect will just be a lapsing duty which there maybe more of them in your office then there currently is.
It's all confusing but that's how I sort of read it
It's two duties in a van share, walk 1 is everything, walk 2 is 1st class/tracked, only, then you take extra from the 8th walk that has been lapsed.

You then do walk 2 full next day and walk 1 light, so on.
So basically you would both share walk one and then both go around walk two together in the same day and do the tracked/1C then go and both do the lapsing duty afterwards?
Yes. Presumably the lapse duty alternates between heavy/light too im guessing?

I thought that they didn't want 2 people driving around doing tracked as it's inefficient 🤔

Stating the obvious but the office would need to be fully staffed everyday for any of this to work

Once again the classic “hopefully some movement and update next week” was said near the end. It’s ALWAYS next week with this hopeless bunch.
From what I understand though this plan seems similar to what our office does now which is leave all the mail for one side of a van share to get done on time because the delivery’s are stupidly big, but we would now be required to take the first class mail AND a chunk of another delivery. It’s better than the original ODM plan but it will still fall apart in our office when it’s even the slightest bit busy.

It's definitely a better plan than the stupid 3 into 4.
A lot of offices are just taking one side and tracked/1C off the other and this way is probably a little easier than the original method of 2 people 2 full walks. You won't be walking as many miles in a day either.
Time will tell however when mail picks up and double day of mail will look a lot heavier.

It's not inefficient if you do it efficiently. :Very Happy You've just gotta have the sense to split it sensibly.

1 person doing mail + 1 person doing Tracked can be inefficient too. The driver has to guess when the person doing mail is going to finish their loop. On top of that - the driver will have to drive back to pick the other postie up. At least with doing Tracked together you are likely going to be closer together.

If 2 people are being sent out to do tracked and 1C on a single duty be prepared for that duty to be made huge.

You'd be doing triple mail on the other side though.

Between 2 people, an increase from 50-70% call rate. An extra 20 minutes?

Unfortunate if you think like that, but you didn’t answer the question.
A single duty split by 2 people with double mail, but single packets would take maximum extra 40 minutes divided by the 2 people - so 20 mins.
Remember, any ODM isn’t being designed to ‘fix’ offices - they are looking at it as if the office currently clears. That has become very apparent.

But the union has designed this fix, because they know most offices aren't clearing, and we know from the trials that ODM doesn't work.

Under any new ODM, no office will ever clear each day again, that’s one of the points.
Getting the premium things out first and take 3-4 days to do the rest.
Are you aware that RM have pretty much blanked the CWU ‘fix’?

They haven't blanked it, they proposed 8 into 6, which is the same as 4 into 3, but RM can't bring anything in without union agreement.

You have more "faith" in the power of the CWU than I have, the lack of people who bothered to vote in the ballot will have shown RM management that they don't really have the backing of the workforce they once had
