So today it was our turn to have the colour coded fittings installed. We have heard nothing from the union in about 3 weeks after they told us they had scrapped plan A model and they have been quiet since.
Loads of offices are now getting colour coded fittings and are now telling staff that the 3 in 4 is still going ahead.
Where is the union response to this? Can the union just make a statement telling us that it's now coming in and that we are actually not voting on it (unless it was a smokescreen vote on the pay deal).
The union has been quiet, members are asking questions. Royal Mail are railroading these changes in.
Speak up union!!

Do we have a union response to the colour coded fittings that are getting put in now?

Did they actually say ODM had been scrapped or just suggested it might be for whatever hair brain plan they came up.with?
I'm guessing they gone quiet after hinting about the ODM being scrapped until they are confident they've
got a "yes" vote, I can't see any other reason for the silence, whether it's good or bad news?

They said the original model in the pilot offices wasn't working enough to implement it so they were in talks with a new model that would A) keep you on your own duty with no need for a repick and B) would enable you to have Upto 1 in 2 Saturdays off.TopperGas wrote: ↑19 Aug 2025, 15:27Did they actually say ODM had been scrapped or just suggested it might be for whatever hair brain plan they came up.with?

I get the USO reform is coming regardless but we are now under the impression from what managers tell us is that it's still 3 people doing 4 duties and the only thing going back in is the lapsing. This is a carbon copy idea of plan A.

It sounded too good to be true when it was suggested, the longer it goes on the more likely it was just nonsense.hewittinspain wrote: ↑19 Aug 2025, 15:43They said the original model in the pilot offices wasn't working enough to implement it so they were in talks with a new model that would A) keep you on your own duty with no need for a repick and B) would enable you to have Upto 1 in 2 Saturdays off.TopperGas wrote: ↑19 Aug 2025, 15:27Did they actually say ODM had been scrapped or just suggested it might be for whatever hair brain plan they came up.with?

Workers are telling the CWU that the delivery method changes are continuing. There is no response from the CWU because the CWU knows full well that the changes are continuing. The changes are not to the USO, they are to the way the USO is delivered. Ward and Walsh know that yet continue to say it's USO change. The CWU ceased to be an effective trade union, independent of the industry some time ago. The certification office should revoke it's status as an independent trade union.

USO Reform floor and frame changes are the only thing that has been agreed nationally and that is what you are seeing rolled out.
Why you would still roll it out when the rest of it’s not agreed well that’s a different matter and I don’t have the answer for that.

There's some intent to confer legitimacy by saying the USO has been reformed when it has not and that therefore their hands are tied. The delivery model is, apparently, changing and that is entirely within their competence (in the political sense) to interfere for the sake of their members.tramssirhc wrote: ↑19 Aug 2025, 17:16The changes are not to the USO, they are to the way the USO is delivered.
