A long-established North West parcel delivery firm has ceased trading and appointed administrators who are now looking to sell the business’ assets.
Middleton-based W. Harrison & Sons (Carriers) Ltd trading as Express Parcel Services has ceased trading resulting in about 30 employees at the company being made redundant.
Directors at the company appointed Julie Palmer and Andrew Hook of Begbies Traynor as joint administrators on 12 August 2025, when there were no employees remaining at the company.
The firm’s assets, which include but are not limited to, its vehicle fleet and leasehold property will now be realised by the joint administrators.
Andrew Hook, partner at Begbies Traynor, said: "We always aim to rescue any company. Unfortunately, despite a marketing process being conducted prior to our appointment a buyer for the company’s business and assets was not identified. We will now work with relevant stakeholders to achieve the best possible outcome for creditors.
“As part of this process we are realising the company’s assets including its vehicle fleet and leasehold property. Interested parties can view certain assets online, or contact the joint administrators for further details.”
The auction of the company’s vehicle fleet has been scheduled to run from 3 September 2025 to 10 September 2025. The vehicle fleet auction can be viewed here.
