Seems everyone is hearing very different things. If only there was an organisation that we pay subs to each week who could update us eh? There was meant to be an agreement on the uso by 18th July yet here we are in a swirl of rumours with no real information.
I suspect lots of the union hierarchy are probably on their summer hols for the majority of August so we will probably have to sit and wait until September.

It’s all hearsay until we hear otherwise, so wait until the union updates.

Only guessing but the lazy way to do it would be to add a couple of loops to every round on top of the ones added a couple of years ago, put the DPR back with the mail and go the Australian method, this would give similar savings to the ODM? Not ideal and would need some incentive for seasonal fluctuations

The silence from SW19 is deafening....

I'm guessing it turns out RM didn't actually think CWU were seriously offering a credible alternative to Bob, Eevie and Ahmed that doesn't save any money so have sent them away with their tails between their legs. The spin machine will be in overdrive to get the Yes vote through and then further delays and updates will follow til after the 26th when it will be revealed that they have seen the finances again and we need to go with their idea or none of us will have a job at Xmas.

It is weirdly silent even by the unions rock bottom standards. Div rep at our office this morning to sell the deal and we asked at end what’s going on with uso and what’s the new plan etc etc. His answer was no idea, he had expected to hear something by now but it’s radio silence from the top.
Like you say we will probably hear nothing until after 26th when pay vote is done.

Apparently RM putting out an emergency brief tomorrow assuring us that the USO plans are going ahead as planned and that the pilot sites are all working well. Also the CWU should not be discussing content of closed confidential negotiations.

Think this could get very messy...
Yep, we were told we're going live in September regardless. And as for the latter; without divulging too much of private discussions with informed persons, I was told no-one at any pay grade should be discussing the alternative model.
The machine stops.

Any decent rep would stop this.

Does that now mean you're going live with the alternative model ? If so then it's going to become apparent what it entails fairly shortly.

The cwu have said on many occasions we will not be advancing forward with any other delivery models until there is an agreement with Royal Mail and it has been put out to the members to vote on this was clarified in a work time briefing this morning we were pencilled in for mid October now our manager has told us when there is an agreement we will not see any change this side of Xmas we already prep vertically into our frames and the coloured labels are already on our sorting frames but no change until after Xmas when there is an agreement.

Does anyone seriously think that if the company comes up with a way of saving money and we vote no ,they will bin it?

All changes never really benefit us but the carrot dangler is more Saturdays and up to 1 in 2.
If they offered me 1 in 2 Saturdays I'd probably vote a change in if it's reasonable and better than that shambles that we were supposed to get.

What happened to the CWU's alternative ODM being put to the PEC? Did it ever get that far or were the CWU told to discuss it with the PEC?

There is some serious mixed messaging going on here. I do recall Martin hinting at a "stay on your own duty" with every other Saturday off but if that carrot is being dangled without any details then it is just bait to try and influence the pay deal vote.

The silence is deafening and this creates a vacuum filled with rumours, suspicions, worst case scenario's and staff drawing their own conclusions. People are right to be sceptical that RM will accept any alternative model that doesn't deliver the savings that they have pencilled in and probably why there is speculation that RM have sent the CWU away to rework their proposals and why nothing is being shared. You can't help thinking that we are being softened up for a 'take it or leave it' moment after the pay vote.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
