I think any large items should be a seperate duty. It’s alright picking up a Jiffy bag on your way round or a bag of nespresso pods but if you’ve gotta move refrigerators and colour TVs that shouldn’t be put on delivery staff.

We've had a faulty lawnmower for return to Amazon, it wasn't even in a box, looked like the customer had just got it out of his shed still with grass stuck on it

The guy that collected it didn't want the confrontation either so when he got back after the initial wtf we supposed to do with that and where do we stick the label it got put in a mail sack

That's just the start of what's to come. It's ridiculous putting this extra work on delivery staff, guess they think we gotta earn our 50p or so and hour pay rise!

So you end up with a confrontation with a member of public on your round, if you refuse it. But like I say, I will refuse or ask for their help next time.

Yes but it was less than 30kg and we’re told any weight up to that is ok to take.

30kg surely that’s a two man lift? How is this possible on single duties? Or are we going to be provided with a trolley to cart this stuff around?

On the parcelforce forum on here it says that there should be seperate dedicated collection rounds for these items.
And your COM should organise it using the redlands dashboard.

Guessing a manual handling assessment has been carried out and communicated to everyone? It is not solely down to the weight but a generic 30kg regardless of an assessment of the task, the individual, the load or the environment (TILE) does not seem like the right approach. Are there stairs, gates or any other trip hazards, how far is it carried, is there any equipment available that can be used, is it team or individual ?

It’s an absolute joke, we’ve got one trolly that’s permanently on a duty- oh, they might get one more for the whole office of more than 100 posties. It should be a two man lift yes, but this is Royal Mail. Parcelforce deliver our largest, in suitably sized vans and equipment for them. We get fook all and smaller vans.
