Vertical frames

We've just been informed that planners are coming in to do vertical frames this week.
Gonna wreck a lot of duties.
I made my own frame and it works perfectly fine as is.
I have 6 columns and set them up to evenly distribute the d2d across the whole week.
Can't exactly fight it though. Reinventing the wheel is royal mails slogan.
I'll keep yas posted about how bad it is at the end of the week.

Yet to get ours but coming soon, don't really see what the fuss is, it's just like going on a different walk after a few days it will be second nature.

Wouldn't worry too much about D2Ds if the talk of all in the frame Monday comes true

It’s annoying for the first day or two ,but you soon get used to it. Not sure what the benefits of it are though.

Why does it need planners, all we did was pull the strips out and start from the top, lining up the slots as we go. The mistake they make is that they don’t update and review the fitting before moving them around
I don’t see what value it adds, and don’t understand why they can’t just tell us what the benefits are.

The ppl coming in are also colour coding IPS and the frames. From the sounds of it. It's all being rushed through by top management.

Told it's to get everyone who works in delivery working the same way but think there's more to it than that

There is one advantage to having vertical prep and that's that it it easier for someone unfamiliar with the delivery to sort their packets. I grant, it's not a huge benefit, and is no benefit at all to most duty holders and a good number of floaters and reserves. But it is a small positive in return for mild disruption (people get used to it after a few days or a week).

The hidden agenda, if there is one, because 'Ringwood' may be (and hopefully is) dead, is that if everyone is used to prepping that way the 'superframe' idea, where you have all the walks in one area, say a xx1 or xx5 postcode, as a long, continuous fitting would be marginally easier to do.

I think that's about it so far as pros and cons go. It's an irritating but essentially harmless change with minor benefits but does open the door to a way of working that would displease most staff, but that was trialled without much success.

I don't see any benefit to it at all in regards of health.
If anything its actually worse. Going across the frame i kept my body moving.
Vertical frame my back is locked into the same position and it gets sore.
In the past when i was putting in d2d's in columns(Can't do that now) i would go and get a stool to sit on so it wasn't so bad on the back.
So basically whatever motives they have for the frame change it has nothing at all to do with health.

I haven't actually seen one of these vertical frames yet, but am I missing something here? Can't you put in the door to doors in rows, instead of columns?

I suppose you put all your D2D in one loop, which I normally do. Most people probably like to put them in a bit of each loop.

If it was all about putting the packets above, you’d have to take the top row out. With a frame full of double slots the packets are falling everywhere. Each column does not equal 1 pair of loops, some have 5 or 6

You need to put them in for pairs of loops if there’s 2 in a van, otherwise one is stood waiting for the other to finish their loop? It has to be balanced

We used to do a row per day of D2Ds when we were on single walks. Some full bags Mon to Thurs, then Friday and Saturday were easier days towards the short weekend break we had.
It made sense then, now it doesn't because a row is now a column apparently and I see plenty of frames with 7 columns...

That's easy, do 2 columns or a column and a half per day.
