Re: Uso agreement
There 100% need to be a manager in an office. Suggesting getting rid of thme and constantly complaining about their pay/bonuses is dog whistling.

Re: Uso agreement
Well the talk was a mixture of heavy and light days in this ‘ new model’ to be trialled, all to be revealed next week..Acca Dacca wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025, 19:37Im going to guess it will be some sort of more extreme longs and shorts ( hour+ difference rather than 10-15 minutes )claretandblue wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025, 19:06Martin said you get to stay on your own walk and it solves the non drivers issueclaretandblue wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025, 19:033 into 4 is no more, they are presenting a new ODM to the PEC on Monday, hopefully we should find out what it is next week.![]()
A shorter day doing both walks van sharing only 1st class and parcels and then doing everything the next on a long day
Mon - long
Tue - short
wed - long
thurs - short
fri - long
sat - short
How much can be saved from doing that I dont know but I guess the savings from the current 3 into 4 doesnt matter as it doesnt work

Re: Uso agreement
What would it mean for PT new entrants wanting FT contracts? The new uso could have meant more FT contracts.

Re: Uso agreement
I worked indoors for the best part of a month, we usually had 6 line managers, it was startling to see what they did and didn’t do once everyone went out on delivery.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Re: Uso agreement
Not sure I've seen a single comment on here where someone has said about completely ridding all managers. That obviously wouldn't happen for a number of reasons.
You could easily reduce the number of managers by a decent % by simply making our duties 'job and finish'. No lapsing. You just come in and clear your duty no matter how light or heavy it is....and go home when you're done. The main problem with this is making sure all duties are covered every single day even if someone goes off sick, someone is on annual leave, someone has their day off. Will EP Group put in the work to make sure we are setup in a way so that this happens if something like this was implemented.... who knows.
I'd happily come in to single mail with my current duty the size it is and clear it each day as I believe over the year I will average my contracted hours. In the summer I'll be going home 20 to 40 minutes early. During the Xmas period I'd be going over by 20 to 40 minutes.

You won't be making our annual "infinite profit growth" profile that RM UK now is. Therefore, your job is obsolete norris9.norris9 wrote: ↑01 Aug 2025, 15:26Not sure I've seen a single comment on here where someone has said about completely ridding all managers. There would we absolute no trust from staff ever that it would work.

Re: Uso agreement
"equalising" of labour vs workload would be up there on the agenda. Employing, on stupid wages I might add, outsiders to decide walks is ridiculous. Take note DKtheotherone wrote: ↑01 Aug 2025, 15:33It just wouldn't ever get going.norris9 wrote: ↑01 Aug 2025, 15:26Not sure I've seen a single comment on here where someone has said about completely ridding all managers. "Interesting that Dave wants to trial having no managers and having us posties manage ourselves."
PS, what is your obsession with job and finish? It's not coming back, and it has more flaws in it than the current system.

Re: Uso agreement
It’s more likely there would be one main office manager and the line managers would be replaced by team leader types who would still go out on a walk
The idea of no manager at all and everyone just decides what they are doing is nonsense let’s just nip that in the bud

If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next
