Martin Walsh DGSP:A message to new entrants in Royal Mail Group

Post by POSTMAN »

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

'no I don't accept that'. What we don't accept is the treatment of post 2022 workers by the CWU. Martin is not one of those workers and his complete lack of empathy is why workers are sick of the CWU. When the post 2022 workers are on the same t's and c's as the pre 2022 workers them Martin can start pontificating about not accepting the criticism being made by workers. Don't give that union a penny until its sorted out.

The post 2022 workers are about 70 quid a week worse off. About £52 million pound a year would need to be paid to equalise the pre and post 2022 workers.

It's ok the longer this goes on the less union members there will be.

'I don't accept that...'

Absolutely oblivious....and they wonder why newer colleagues haven't/won't join the union.

And even then any solution might not come in until December.

Not accepting the views of new staff so publicly will be the final straw for many of them. Big fanfare in December 2024 about 'the agreement', and maybe December 2025 until it STARTS to become equalised. No surprise retention of new staff is at an all time low.
We keep hearing about the massive cost to the business to equalise contracts - what about the huge sums they are saving when anyone on a legacy contract leaves? Why isn't 1 person given a better contract/pay every time 1 legacy staff leaves?

So wait until December to only find out what the plan is, presumably also when it will be implemented

Out of our recent batch of new starters not one is in the union or intending to join.

How would that work, you can't just "reward" one member of staff when another leaves?

yes, you can. That's how it has been done in the past from part time to full time. This is just an extension of that.

RM biding their time. When new guys out number old contracts it will considered discrimination in favour of old timers. New contacts for all and be honest how many new contract guys will kick off over that?

Nonsense

And besides if there ever WAS a claim that it was discrimination - then it'd be more likely to happen when old contracts outnumber the new ( or ''discriminated'' ) not the other way around
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

When I started at Royal Mail 25 years ago I was a part time employee who worked 6days a week when colleagues around me got days off and long weekends but that was the job I took 4 years later I finally became full time but when I started nobody forced me to work there so my message is if you didn’t like the terms and conditions why take the job in the first place

Your experience is absolutely nothing like the experience of post 2022 workers. Telling workers to fit in or f**k off harms them and you. The attitude of I'm alright jack is the sole reason why the CWU is finished.
