It will be as had to take A/L to get it off. Only once in my 40.years can I remember them giving us the 27th off. It was about 30 years ago and it was agreed to cancel our day off in the week to make up for it. Those on 6 day duties worked longer days that week again from memory . I believe before privatisation the union has requested similar but been refused. Can't imagine this lot would allow it

It's more likely to be Fri, Sat, Sun & Mon off, with the Mon being the bank holiday because boxing day is on the weekend.

It's a whole different ball game now, with RM having new owners.

The 26th December isn't a Bank Holiday in 2026 so the new owners could have any night shift worker back in at 00:00 on the 26th and anyone else working whatever hours they'd normally work on a Saturday, with everyone who'd normally work a Sunday also doing their normal hours.

Interesting to think how over the past couple of years we have lost our bank holiday day in lieu's and told to come in at midnight on boxing day night and new year's Day night (night staff) When you speak to people outside they find it astonishing the little compassion or reward the RM staff have had at Christmas from higher Management who will book their Christmas / new year off every time.

Don't ever listen to the cwu reps tell you that they are very much strong and incontrol now as opgs have surrendered so much the recent years that many have called it a day .
