Don’t worry about it just do what u can do. It gets held at the MC for 5 days then probably has another 5 days in a tray or in a frame at our office. Honestly don’t stress it.

So it doesn't cut the call rate, as you've just admitted.
If 50% of the mech mail is being held by the DTS, that's a lot less DPs that will be getting mech mail, therefore a lower call rate. Packets, SDs, Tracked, manual letters and flats don't feed into the DTS data.
I'm not sure why you are always championing these deluded ideas from upper management, that do nothing but make delivery less achievable and more stressful. It makes you look completely ignorant and quite frankly, arrogant as f**k.

Perhaps he could come and do deliveries for a week and show us what we are doing wrong.

Rather championing anything he's doing his best to explain how the system is now supposed to work from a technical/organisational perspective.
if it's all gobbledegook to you there's little point in the "come and show us how to do it then" standard reply.

I wonder if the DTS will sync to the new USO modelling? When the new USO duties come in we will be required to deliver whatever comes in the Mech Sorted mail trays that are put straight on the frames regardless as whether it is marked first class or not. The news that the DTS goes by calendar days would suggest that on a Thursday any held mail that is due to exceed the five day hold on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday for a duty not scheduled a CORE DAY on the Friday will get it all on a Thursday. Or will it just come through as it does now so we will still get higher volumes of mail on a Saturday that will need to be delivered because it came in the Mech trays.

Maybe the DTS will need to be altered to count working deliver days so just MON-FRI.

I had a full tray of mech yesterday that probably only had a dozen first class letters, Under the new USO only first class on a Saturday will fail if this is not resolved.

Honestly. Try not to care. Just do all you can. At this stage the unions main priority should be trying to rehabilitate managers to accept this reality and way of thinking. Instead of bullying and harassing posties to complete the impossible.

The problem with the union in this regard. Most Area reps and above aren't from deliveries or havent done a delivery in circa 20 years. They do not know what it is like or feels like to face this every day. There is no urgency to address what is happening.

You can hear it when the CWU put out comms or do their little live sessions. They have no idea what is happening.

There are no changes being made to the way the DTS works.

I don't give a f**k what you think. What the machine releases, I sequence, what it doesn't goes onto the DTS yorks. Once it's sorted and out the door, it's not our problem. If you really worked for RM, you'd know that no office gives a f**k about the next office in the chain, be that another MC or a DO. :cuppa

Why bother trying to do all you can though? I remember when we all as a collective had pride in our jobs, respectability, job satisfaction with excellent representation from the CWU.

Now the CWU are nothing but champagne socialists and are complicit in the destruction of the T&C's we once had. I've seen glimpses of the higher up CWU shenanigans these days and they are nothing but self serving and corrupt to the core. Rotten.

NB I stopped paying my subs after the last dispute, f***ing charlatans.

Lol I do work as an OPG and have done probably for longer than your good self. Just because you have only ever worked in processing, don't mean when DK and his experts start looking at cost savings you won't be forced over to delivery or out of a job. We are all just a number remember

They could bring casuals into deliveries, no allowances, minimum wage. There's not much scope left for cost savings in MCs, most shifts are just about all casuals. Probably just about the only cost savings they could make would be to push back all dispatches to DOs to after 08:00 to save on shift allowances in distribution.

The new owners will probably want everyone in a DO to be able to do any walk (including any driving walks) or indoor content and everyone in a MC to be able to do any processing job (already happens, at least a 1/3 of people on shift are trained on our machines).

It takes less than a day to be trained on our machines as you call them. How do you think you would fair on delivery? Also you will immediately lose your allowances because your job title is OPG. :cuppa
