Nah might take an extra 5 or 10 minutes to pull the ones at the front of the van forward after you have got rid of the 1st 40 or 50 at the back but that’s it. 30 mins to number and load 120 straight into the van and away, would take too long numbering them indoors and handling them twice.menditsa wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025, 21:32No it is not, fannying around scanning 120 items that only just fit in the van out in the yard not only takes longer but you cannot load the van safely to stop load shift when driving.Clappedoutpostie wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025, 20:48It’s a waste of time handling them indoors and again whilst loading the van, much better and far quicker doing it as u load the van.
I've seen driving wasting 5 mins trying to find a parcel that's been buried by the load falling over.

Sounds like some peeps have been rumbled!
This sounds like people wanting to hang around indoors before going out.

Take the york out to the back of the van scan them as quickly as possible in core route or dpr put them into the areas that you would always know you can pull from when your in your estates.. wasting time writing numbers on them is a no no for me and yet another 10 minutes wasted..

They should already be scanned to a DPR route though.Peabrain22 wrote: ↑18 Jul 2025, 07:43Take the york out to the back of the van scan them as quickly as possible in core route or dpr put them into the areas that you would always know you can pull from when your in your estates.. wasting time writing numbers on them is a no no for me and yet another 10 minutes wasted..

Its the exact same method when we had our large packets. Just roll them out into the yard and load them in. Im a spare, i get chucked around.Im still loading 100+packets large and small into the van.
I suspect all that is happening is you are being asked to do something differently to what you are used to and from experience the people of RM do not adapt well to change but once its bedded in people stop complaining.

I don't number, I throw them in straight from the york in alphabetical order in columns in the van. Works for me 99% of the time, takes seconds to find a parcel at your stop.

When I first read that I thought what, so Mr Aardvark lives closest and Mrs Zebedee lives the furthest away, that's very decent of themPleasedButSticky wrote: ↑18 Jul 2025, 10:59I don't number, I throw them in straight from the york in alphabetical order in columns in the van. Yeah I think know what you mean really, so you put them in alphabetical street order then it's fairly easy to find them going by what the PDA tells you is the next stop ?

Hey, that's not a bad idea!PleasedButSticky wrote: ↑18 Jul 2025, 10:59I don't number, I throw them in straight from the york in alphabetical order in columns in the van. Works for me 99% of the time, takes seconds to find a parcel at your stop.
I always feel like taking longer to do the van loading/numbering thing takes a bit longer to get out, but saves time once you're out.
If I just load up the van in terms of streets/walks I always need to keep stopping to have a tidy - and quite often I've missed something and have to go back somewhere.

Why aren't any of you using the van loading tool on the PDA? It's so much simpler than numbering or alphabetising!
