Because 2 people in a shared van do their own loops using pouches and meet up back at the van to fill up their own pouches for the next loop,if the driver is off doing packets with th new way of working they'll have to replenish the ' none drivers' I couldn't get 4.30hrs of letters in 2 pouches as a none driver? Yes I do work from a shared van

Re: Trials
I can't speak for other offices, but we've more or less been operating without any reserves since Covid. Sickness and leave is usually dealt with by moving an OPG onto an uncovered delivery on alternate days and failing that OPG's duty so that the OPG has double work on that the following day, etc. Sometimes we don't have enough staff to cover alternate days and triple, or more, mail is not an unusual occurrence.Acca Dacca wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025, 18:36There would still need to be reserves - same as nowBenacreNick wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025, 18:23What happens when 1 person is sick for a week and 1 person is on holiday for a week. What is the remaining 1 person supposed to do - all of it ?
The size of my office merited 5 FT and 5 PT reserves pre-Covid and we cleared every day. We currently have 1 FT reserve and 0 PT reserves. I genuinely doubt that my office has been cleared more than a handful of times, if at all, in the last 5 years. I would be truly amazed if we come through the ODM revision process carrying enough staff to cover shortfalls due to sickness or annual leave.

Re: Trials
Don't your shared van drivers currently do parcels? All our loops are made roughly 5/10 minutes shorter for the driver to nip round and do large parcels for the area you are currently in, although it's not an exact science. If you are both back at the van at the same time, then you both just go and do it, it's surprisingly efficient. There is no waiting around for any real amount of time, you finish each area before moving on, unless there is something time dependant.pieoftheday wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025, 19:20Because 2 people in a shared van do their own loops using pouches and meet up back at the van to fill up their own pouches for the next loop,if the driver is off doing packets with th new way of working they'll have to replenish the ' none drivers' I couldn't get 4.30hrs of letters in 2 pouches as a none driver?
There is no third person doing the parcels on these routes, or replenishing - that third person will be doing tracked and 1c boxes etc on routes C and D, whilst A and B is being done by the 2 people in a shared van. Next day swap over.

Re: Trials
So a new start coming in, sits in the same van doing the same work as his/her colleague for a couple of pound less for 3 years.. absolute madness..and they talk about leveling up and paid breaks and incentive schemes going foward... is it actually made up every month or what

Re: Trials
That's no difference than it's always been since the new contracts were introduced, we've got new contracts doing rural, HCT and DPR duties, the real madness is they also have to work Sunday's once a month for the same pay rate!!Peabrain22 wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025, 19:45So a new start coming in, sits in the same van doing the same work as his/her colleague for a couple of pound less for 3 years.. absolute madness..and they talk about leveling up and paid breaks and incentive schemes going foward... is it actually made up every month or what

Re: Trials
Not all 2C, the DTS will still be releasing 2C, you might get some days when it releases a load. AFAIK the 5 day limit still applies for the DTS.

Re: Trials
It shouldn't be though. Barring a few bulk postings made every so often it shouldn't be rocket science to program machines to release a similar amount each day.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025, 20:11Not all 2C, the DTS will still be releasing 2C, you might get some days when it releases a load. Re: Trials
It'll be down to if a load hits the 5 day limit. If a DP has a 1C item, ALL 2C for that DP will be released. If any 2C hits the 5 day limit ALL 2C for that DP will be released.Perseus wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025, 20:17It shouldn't be though. Re: Trials
So as I say, don't let things get to the 5 day limit if avoidable. Look at trends, numbers, who get what and when over a 12 month period and adjust accordingly. The old 'just get it out the MC and let the DO deal with it' doesn't work with this new system.

Doesn't work and never will work that way. It goes on what went to DTS the previous day and what has come through on the current day.

Re: Trials
Not oversized, the shorter loops for drivers to do big stuff ended years ago at ours, also the Limited info we have is 3 to a van, hence my question. We have DPR drivers in the afternoon and we'd need 50 more vans to do as describePerseus wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025, 19:33Don't your shared van drivers currently do parcels? Not seen mention of 3 in a van anywhere but offices seem to be doing their own thing

Re: Trials
Then that system needs to change for it to stand a chance further on in the chain at the DO. 'It's been that way and will continue' hasn't washed with DO's who have complained about what mail is coming in on set days during the trials.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025, 20:52Doesn't work and never will work that way.
