They won’t get that many VRs so it’ll go to CRs

Re: Stick it out .
A few guys in our office have had VR but they are staff who have been on long term sickness and managers don't really want them working indoors because there are too many indoor staff already.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

With all due respect, you have no idea what you are talking about.

VR or IHR? We have had people go on IHR but there's people with longer service who would have liked to have gone but VR isn't availablepostslippete wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025, 18:29A few guys in our office have had VR but they are staff who have been on long term sickness and managers don't really want them working indoors because there are too many indoor staff already.

Not totally sure but I think IHR is less than VR but seeing there aren't any VR offers it's the only way out for some

Re: Stick it out .
One of the ex-posties I spoke to a while back who was on long term sick and told me he was classed as 'medically unfit' for extensive outdoor duties, but was more than happy to work indoors and was even willing to drop his hours to do it. Management didn't want him indoors though, so he ended up taking VR instead of IHR as it was more cash up front.
I guess it really depends how desperate managers are to get rid of you!

Should've offered him a duty at the nearest MC, I'll bet he would've stayed and saved them a VR payment.postslippete wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025, 19:03

Pleased for them but VR should be done on service not by who the manager needs out the door

Re: Stick it out .
Agreed.
Also, the 10-20k VRs that was quoted is simply keeping the workforce quiet while many people hold out for a VR payout but if RM wait a few years then headcount's will drop naturally due to attrition (retirements, turnover etc) and once the USO reforms are bedded in there will be more of a "business case" for compulsory redundancies

Re: Stick it out .
Royal Mail knows that there's plenty with only a few years until retirement who would jump at VR. I'd be surprised if Royal Mail wouldn't just wait them out to get them out naturally(and cheaper)

Re: Stick it out .
Surely it's cheaper to pay VR than having posties with two years left going off with a " bad back " every few month?

They aren't gonna give out VRs , you may as well dream about winning the lottery instead you have better odds.
