A POSTMAN said he crammed hundreds of undelivered items into the boot of his car because he couldn’t keep up with the demands of the job.
Gavin Lewis Evans, of Century Wharf, Cardiff Bay, amassed a total of 687 letters and parcels at home and in his vehicle.
Cardiff Magistrates’ Court heard the 29-year-old’s haul was discovered during a routine check of the Cardiff Western Delivery Office, where he worked between September and November 2004.
Prosecuting for Royal Mail, Nicholas Gareth Jones said some of the letters and parcels Evans handled were as much as three months old.
In interview with Royal Mail managers, Evans said the pressure of his workload had become too much.
“His problems started one day when he had to cover for somebody else,â€

So half a days mail thenamassed a total of 687 letters and parcels at home and in his vehicle.
You'd think from the reporting that nobody had received any mail for 3 months but that said what a lazy git, if you cannot complete then you ask for help

That is very interesting ... the probelms started when he had to cover for someone else ... two counts of delaying mail ...
That sounds to me like he's be given extra to deliver to cover another walk for two days ... mmmm, does that sound familiar?
The lazy bastard, 40 underworked and 25% overpayed and yet he can't be bothered to do an extra 10% per day. Tut tut, I feel a little sorry for him (he did very wrong but I can't help thinking he's a bit of a stubborn person and was pushed into a trap)

Depression can do strange things to you.
Although I could never condone what he did, I can understand how he got into that mess. Depression can really screw you up. But why didn't he go to his Doctor for help, and go on the Sick?
I know that RM give you a lot of hassle when you are ill, but that would be better than the mess he ended up in.
Was he using his car on Deliveries when he had his accident?
If so, did he feel pressurised to use his Car?
