Crazy amounts of parcels this week. What’s going on!? Thought summer was meant to be completely dead  :d'oh!
1 - Half the shops are closed in every town centre
2 - people are too lazy to go out to buy things

That's no different than any other week but this week's been oddly busy given that Mother's Day & Father's Day etc are long gone, we seem stacked out with oversized Amazon packages, have we "won" more of their work or are they just offloading work in readiness for July's Prime week?

Good point, I reckon we haven't "won" it we just get it because it's more attractive for them to offload it, I'm guessing we give them a dirt cheap rate to take their crumbs, happy to be shot down and told otherwise if that's not the case, perhaps if it is that will hopefully change under our new ownership.

Letters are still dead in the summer... err, or they would be if there wasn't three days stuff in the frame.
The machine stops.

Loads more Amazon heavy boxes. Maybe a few of their drivers are on annual leave.

We've had so many across our DO this week it can't be due to the odd driver being off, I did ask a regular customer who usually delivers her large Amazon parcels and she said Evri!!

We’ve had massive amounts of parcels this week along with 2 and sometimes 3 rammed trays of mail in the 1st wave.

My rural duty didn’t go out twice this week(Tuesday&wednesday) as well and I’ve been struggling to catch up all week and only managed to clear about 1/3 of the mail today.

I remember last summer was horrendous. I was getting Christmas amounts most days - god knows why.
I know I’m not imagining it as I clearly remember loading up one day when another postie loading their van shouted over to me “what the F is going on, this summer is awful it’s as bad as Christmas”. Yet we still had RM banging on about how quiet it was etc etc. Wonder if this year will be the same? Seems a possibility after this weeks volumes.

Anyone here had their office adjust their delivery times down from 3 mins to 2 mins per drop ?
20 per hour now up to 30 per hour in this heat.

That’s just not possible. They might as well make it 50 per hour why not.

Yeah last summer was heavy in June then reached a peak around prime day, nowhere near enough staff to deal with the volumes.

Unless there's a shitload of direct to DO yorks, packets are down. Direct to DO yorks, we won't see in processing, they get wheeled off the artic and straight over to the relevant dock on the loading bay. We've not seen a big surge in Amazon packets yet, before the Amazon Prime day, I expect that we will see a surge on the Prime days and for maybe at most a week afterwards.
