Why on earth would you go there to deliver a large and then go back later with a smaller parcel? Who trains these people?
Happens all the time in a shared van
Why? How? I get that sometimes a parcel will be missed but for it to happen regularly
FT preps both deliveries and bags up then puts big pkts in van - how they supposed to remember all pkts in bags for both duties and all big parcels
PT starts later and doesn’t know where the pkts are for!
Exactly this. 200 packets easily prepped in a day and no photographic memory. Often when I do a bag of mail and scan a small tracked at a door it comes up with a second code. Don't think it's any different than going with mail first then realise there is an oversize when doing the large a few minutes later. Apart from rurals, are people seriously saying that every single address they deliver to only gets one drop a day? Like if you have 50 large in a van, are you extracting the mail for the address too and taking it all at once? Some, yeah, but every one?

As far as I'm aware, there's nothing you can do. Just give it the delivery scan and go back again. You should really be checking for double ups though. It drives me nuts working with people that don't. Why lump parcels around in bags when you've been there/going there with oversized.

well we get two yorks oversize and stacked with small packets above frame, before we do two of these loops we have to go round with about 40 oversize for these so usually thats when one or two of these oversize comes up with an extra parcel scan as we have still to do the loops, in the morning we have no time whatsoever to go through 200 parcels, single duties totally different, but when ur working with dif people all the time, usual shitshow, plus some of us are doing 6 and half hour deliveries, the driver needs help with the oversize, but this stupid thing where more than one comes up on the screen is another royal mail failure, or even worse if u have one pda between two if theres not enough pdas, most unorganised shitshow ever

Easy option is only scan the regular barcodes rather than the 2d ones that contain the address info then the PDA won't know there's multiple items.

It's also quicker inside as you don't have to confirm on the PDA after every scan when scanning to core route.

Why would you do the oversized first? You're effectively going round the whole duty twice? Plus running packets together is a waste of time. Mine go in order in the van we're going to do them. I'll stuff ones in the bag I can get in, or just carry the ones I know I'm gonna get rid of because of safe places ect or because they're near where we park. Anything left the first one back off the loop does them. There's always gonna be one finished before the other, so that person may aswell run any oversized.

Thanks. I knew you could swipe to navigate, but that's handy to know.

Most standard barcodes contain the address now.

Do they? I scan all the 2Ds to core and the majority of the time it's 'Match not found'. Then again, the problem may lie in the backend - it's all a black box to us anyway.

They certainly do. When we scan a 2D barcode when sorting the packets, the PDA allocates it to the sleeve/york for that selection.

I'd say it's 50/50 to get a address or not, no idea why but some days it will constantly "match not found"

have to do the oversize first as for this type of loop as wont see passenger again until end of walk again plus not going past it twice, going towards the next loop but passing by with oversize before we get their, if seen passenger again for next loop yeah would do them after, but no driver can't do them allthemselves or passenger be waiting all day at end of walk, its the way the walks designed. Anyway the issue is to do with more than one tracked coming up at a time when u dont always have the second parcel to hand, just think its a dumb idea from royal mail, should be scan one parcel and one parcel comes up,not a lot more

What about when you get to a firm or hospital or school and they have 17 items but 14 have appeared on the PDA?
The quickest way to find the missing 3 is to ....scan them all.
