Re: EP Group tear up Dave Ward's groundbreaking agreement
Unfortunately our Union are toothless. They waved the white flag during the last dispute. They rubbed their hands at the thought of working with a new board and owners who now appear to be fine cutting the Union out of shaping any way forward. They Membership numbers are falling and i can see the Union being financially unviable within 3 years, despite the amount of volunteers at ground level who have the best interests of the Membership at heart but at the top of the CWU where they take a handsome salary they care only about themselves.

Re: EP Group tear up Dave Ward's groundbreaking agreement
Your talking as if things were going swimmingly well under the previous regime and suddenly things have turned to s**t , this job was always going to go one way once we were privatised, this has been death by a thousand cuts over numerous years , all the CWU can do is attempt to stem the tide.priority102 wrote: ↑19 Jun 2025, 09:39This is the norm now. The CWU are becoming more irrelevant by the week. All this puffing chest out comments like "unagreed" bla bla bla is not washing.
The company buying out RM has done it for one reason only....TO MAKE MONEY.
It ain't going to change, everyone has 2 choices now...go with it, or leave.

I agree the union has lost its power, but I look back at the last strikes and see the way some of the membership crossed picket lines, refusing to sacrifice even a couple of days pay for the long term good of the job. We can't have a strong union without a strong workforce, that backs up the unions threats with solid support.

Striking was making no difference, Royal Mail sacrificed Xmas to prove the point , we lost the battle regardless of mandate to strike and I’ve never crossed or would cross a picket line .Valentina@1 wrote: ↑19 Jun 2025, 14:07You f***ing serious?……97% strike mandate, and ward bottled itChitchat wrote: ↑19 Jun 2025, 14:01I agree the union has lost its power, but I look back at the last strikes and see the way some of the membership crossed picket lines, refusing to sacrifice even a couple of days pay for the long term good of the job. The strike were poorly managed. Some even had to be cancelled because the union cocked it up. Ward and co were outclassed throughout the industrial action and it dragged on far longer than it needed to. Given what we finally ended up with was essentially proposed to us about a year prior to accepting it.chickenwittle wrote: ↑19 Jun 2025, 14:26Striking was making no difference, Royal Mail sacrificed Xmas to prove the point , we lost the battle regardless of mandate to strike and I’ve never crossed or would cross a picket line .Valentina@1 wrote: ↑19 Jun 2025, 14:07You f***ing serious?……97% strike mandate, and ward bottled itChitchat wrote: ↑19 Jun 2025, 14:01I agree the union has lost its power, but I look back at the last strikes and see the way some of the membership crossed picket lines, refusing to sacrifice even a couple of days pay for the long term good of the job. That's nonsense when the dispute started ST wanted us all agreeing to Sunday plus numerous other reductions in our T&C's, the article even mentions compulsory Sunday working.Ren Hoëk wrote: ↑19 Jun 2025, 16:33The strike were poorly managed. Not really sure the CWU "cocked up" the strike more likely RM instructed a very good legal team who wnet though everything with a fine tooth comb.

You may have low expectations but when a union led by officials on serious salaries drags an entire workforce out on strike and into dispute I expect them to be able to make sure their actions are water tight.TopperGas wrote: ↑19 Jun 2025, 18:14That's nonsense when the dispute started ST wanted us all agreeing to Sunday plus numerous other reductions in our T&C's, the article even mentions compulsory Sunday working.Ren Hoëk wrote: ↑19 Jun 2025, 16:33The strike were poorly managed.
