Re: Over 50s
Do we think the ones moaning about no vrs being available would be the same ones moaning about redundancies, if there are hardly any vrs that’s a good thing surely.

Re: Over 50s
This isnt true according to Martin Walsh the VRs around 2011/12 were for over 50's
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Re: Over 50s
He's an idiot then. The equalities act of 2010 made age one of nine protected characteristics. There is some nuance with a company being able to offer a different style of package for early retirement but when it comes to redundancies and discriminating on age RM would fall foul of the law.Acca Dacca wrote: ↑12 Jun 2025, 18:11This isnt true according to Martin Walsh the VRs around 2011/12 were for over 50's

I think if you’ve done 30 years you definitely deserve the option of redundancy. And no I haven’t done 30.

Re: Over 50s
I’m nearly 54 and some days, particularly Wednesdays/Thursdays, I get home absolutely knackered. The possibility of doing even longer days later in the year is not something I’m looking forward to, and means I may leave the job.

Re: Over 50s
Feel for you mate, I’m a couple of years older and on a decent duty, but that will change no doubt. I’m knacked too most days, let’s see what happens…..nightcrawler wrote: ↑14 Jun 2025, 20:21I’m nearly 54 and some days, particularly Wednesdays/Thursdays, I get home absolutely knackered. Re: Over 50s
If you're holding out for VR you're making a mistake. There's no chance Royal Mail are gonna pay out to reduce staff in most situations when people leave the business all the time, they'll just stop replacing them.
If there are truly still offices which are genuinely overstaffed (which there probably isn't many of) they're more likely to try and incentivise moving to other parts of the business where there is a shortage, then see where they're at before VR is even considered.

Re: Over 50s
Good Luck with VR. What should be happening in delivery is people over 50(seniority)should be offered indoor/Mail centre jobs when they come up and not offered to new recruits or agency.
