How could the union stop the trials/pilots?

instruct its members to not participate in any form of planning or organisation of them. Leave it entirely up the managers and planners. Do as instructed and no more.

They absolutely will be. The office reps for sure. Iv been a rep and gone through a number of revisions and upheavals and every time I was involved. Refused to sign off the last one and was overruled by senior reps. It turned out to be the shitshow I expected.

Working for RM is the first time that I’ve been a member of a Union. Could those with more experience tell me, if we all cancel our membership do we just take whatever pay deal that we are given?

If we were all to effectively sack the cwu,we have no representation at all

Some staff can't help themselves getting involved with planning changes. Often with the aim of making sure their duty gets left alone.

Indeed. Like Employment laws would help anyone in the day-to-day situations where union help or guidance is required.
Like anyone (including the CWU) has the funds to take on RM's barristers to fight individual cases caused by some employment change, proposal or other.

Trust me only details being thrashed out are about closing the pay gap which may come from the pension pot not the new RM owner

So having rejected around 4% for this year they will now settle for 4% over 2 years utter rubbish.

I’m sorry where is your evidence for turning down 4% over 1 year….youre being fed spin just as you weee during the strikes when everything that was said then is coming home to roost now…4% over 2 years with new contracts pay rise being the sticking point while the union will still be spouting garbage about getting 10%…..enjoy the extra 20 quid a week minus tax and union subs of course

No need to call HR if you have the app, I cancelled using the app. The process is as follows
Scroll to the bottom tile of the app and open it (My App and HR Help)
Type something into the Search bar ie Pay.
At the very bottom of the next page click on the Ask a Question button.
On the next page click on the first option My pay
Next click on deductions from pay followed by voluntary deductions
Then simply type cancel my union subscription and the amount you pay weekly into the query box and submit.

I mean I was all for the union over the years as we did have generally good terms and conditions vs similar jobs. But with the wages barely above minimum wage and us being generally over worked and an acceptance of a race to the bottom on all sides, it does beg the question how much difference is the union making vs what RM would offer without one?
