Brown knows only to well whats going on in RM and what :cfo and :lfo are doing, he was the one, when he lent RM £1,2 billion told them that he wanted savings in the business, and we are the savings, Brown brought in his big business advisers to squash the unions, they were the ones who advised him to set up postcom, and we all knew what they were set up to do, this goverment has managed to wash its hands of RM, thats why it can turn a blind eye when we are getting battered for our employee rights and pension rights, ive voted Labour all my working life but never again...UNITY IS STRENGTH.

It was worth a try
We know that the Government wanted all this crap to happen, but we (vainly) hoped that we could change their minds. That's supposed to be the point of these Petitions.johno47 wrote:Brown knows only to well whats going on in RM and what :cfo and :lfo are doing, he was the one, when he lent RM £1,2 billion told them that he wanted savings in the business, and we are the savings, Brown brought in his big business advisers to squash the unions, they were the ones who advised him to set up postcom, and we all knew what they were set up to do, this goverment has managed to wash its hands of RM, thats why it can turn a blind eye when we are getting battered for our employee rights and pension rights, ive voted Labour all my working life but never again...UNITY IS STRENGTH.
However, having put my name to several Petitions. So far I've yet to see a useful reply. You just get fobbed off by this lot. Even when it's not regarding RM, all they seem to do, is fob us off!
So much for representing the British Public!

re: The creation of PR spin etc...
Unfortunately I have seen from most angles how this works. If a customer makes a high profile complaint to Leighton or Crozier it comes to the local office for a reply. If a customer complains a note comes from customer services. All the time it is possible to fob them off with any old rubbish, though in my position I did try and resolve the problem.
If you send an email to Leighton/Crozier one of their lackies will write a reply.
If you a petition to government one of it's lackies will write a reply.
I have to agree with what someone said in one of the replies that they just don't listen. Be it PO consultations or the government. They believe they are right, which is admirable in the sense that they have some form of conviction, but shows that democracy as we know it has failed. Vote Brown and new Labour out by all means and bring back the conservatives. However, what will they do differently.
The only thing we have learn't in recent times is that a government that is in power for more than a couple of terms becomes lethargic, corruptable and weak. Especially if they win a second term with a large margin. But what if we have regular changes in government, would we not have more short termism and even less strategic direction that devilvers projects over long periods of time.
Personally speaking we are country run by big business, but seem to be unable to accept this. At least in America they know that candidates are financed and influenced by big business.
As for sacking Leighton/Crozier I have said before and will say again they have done plenty that you may disagree with, but I reckon things could be w hole lot worse without them about. As someone who has seen RM for within and outside with competitors they are doing a good job of retaining a monopoly and stifling any meaningful competition regardless of whether the company is considered public or private (still 100% government owned)

I hate to admit it, but....
It's a depressing thought (for me at least), that there doesn't appear to be ANY Political Party left, which genuinely upholds Socialist values. So you are probably right, about us wasting our time with these kinds of Petition.
Having said that: I don't believe that it is any reason to give up attempting to appeal to whoever is in Government at the time, to at least do SOMETHING which is important to those of us of a like mind.
Admittedly, asking the PM to Sack someone is pretty harsh. But that would still leave 3 or 4 Businesses to employ Leighton, and Crozier wouldn't have any trouble getting another job either. But when they are forcing people out, who are genuinely ill, just to save money. Bullying Staff, while closing ranks when one of their own assaults a Collegue (upheld in Tribunal). Drastic action seems justified.
For "unskilled" Workers (often highly skilled in their chosen work), it is hard enough to get another job at the best of times. But when they have been given Ill Health Retirement, or Sacked for poor attendance. What chance do they have?!?
Surely, no sane person would expect them to live off the Social indefinately! Why can't these people be allowed the Dignity of earning their Wages, paying Taxes, and generally contributing to Society?????

Brown brought in City Bankers to "best serve the interests " of his Shareholder Executive years ago , the orders were to increase the value of the top publically owned companies . They in turn brought in their own people the Croziers of this world . DTI Minister Byers ( The Ultimate Employer ) brought in Leighton as he saw the CWU as a obstacle /problem . Leighton had "Union Avoiding Experience " with Walmart .
Forget all about public service and quality of service or his bungling civil servants being neutral as they take orders from those people brought in to slash and burn with big bonuses to do so . The problems is the boys club atmosphere with people brought in from outside , nor do I have anytime for these " UnImpotent " "" types that may have been arguably good in one field but are usually a disaster elsewhere that Brown favours .
As much as I detest these shady spivs and the American style of management / communication , previous RM chairmen , board and senior managers were even worse , farcical buyouts of foreign parcel companies then selling them back for a tenner , Horizon MAY have stopped DHSS fraud given more time . Leighton was the one who stopped all that Consignia nonsense .
All those faceless ineffective senior civil servant types were given huge golden handshakes to go .
There are large corporations whose power threatens the very foundation of any democratic government , complain as much as you like about greed and hyper capitalisim but it's there . Problem the more these corporations are appeased the more power they want and with PFI , PPP , Franchaises etc , Joe Public gets taken for a ride . It's a dream scenario for them , they like Nationalisation on their terms , all the risk being taken care of .
