My pension I built up from my start date up until 2012 when it changed isn’t due to mature for a few years yet. Is it still earning money since 2012 or is it just frozen until my 60th at the value it closed at?
Thank you for any advice.

Re: Pension before 2012
Any news on what’s happening with the 1.5b pension surplus?
DK got his hands on it,or is it legally ours?

Someone else asked a very similar question a week or two ago( https://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communi ... 7&t=116336).Shirtbuttons wrote: ↑11 Jun 2025, 22:24My pension I built up from my start date up until 2012 when it changed isn’t due to mature for a few years yet. With the answer being, it's still going up with inflation each year, as is the Age65 pension that stopped accruing in 2018.
Just compare you annual statements from previous years.

The idea that DK can just help himself to the surplus is a bit of a fallacy.Valentina@1 wrote: ↑12 Jun 2025, 05:19Any news on what’s happening with the 1.5b pension surplus?

He hasn't got any more right to it than the company had before it was taken over!
In practice, there are currently plans to change the rules to enable employers easier access to defined benefit pension scheme surpluses, and when that happens some of it could end up in DK's hands.
But it's still the trustees of the scheme that determine if, when and how much money is extracted.
The finances of DB pension schemes are no different to the personal finances of an individual, in as much as it's always a good idea to have a rainy day fund tucked away. So the whole £1.5 billion isn't on the table anyway.
