Is this a race to the bottom to undercut the current VR terms?

I would give you 12K if you and all your aliases would f**k off and stop ruining this board.

The people who are saying they would go for peanuts are playing into RM's hands. They have already unilaterally broken the previous redundancy agreement which gave a minimum 6 months and maximum 2 year VR payment after 20 years' service.
RM will be saying that staff will go for £10k or less VR

How on earth CWU let RM cut VR terms from 2 years to 9 months without even a fight is shocking.

Sad times 😢

We had a spate of people saying they would leave for £5k, £10k etc etc on the shop floor for years.
They got offered more than double it and didn't take it.
Funny that.

RM will offer very few VRs so don't get your hopes up. People leave the business all the time. At some point when RM finally decide to cut the workforce then they won't be replaced.

Probably be shipped off to other DO’s, who might have spare capacity.

You might have a surplus if your office is currently fully staffed but how many offices are?

Our office still relies heavily on agency staff. We have taken on a few new starters over the last 2 months but apparently they are all on 6 month contracts which will expire around about October which is when we been told the changes will happen at our office. When it changes there’s more chance of them having to recruit or extend the 6 month contracts than offering anyone EVR.

But they will be in the same position as ours . So surplus staff , they dont have an answer for that, like a lot of other questions put to them

Yes I get that but not if they have more ‘vacancies’ than yours. There might be more than a few running on a shoestring- not every DO, but some, even after this , will have roles that’ll need filling.
