What do you get for 30 years?

Were you a casual initially ? in which case it doesn't count and your actual employment would start from the date of the proper contract.

Re: 30 years service
Service Awards always go on contract start day and no more. You'll have to wait another year.

We have a few lads in there late 40s that have just hit 30 odd years, not sure if it’s achievement or a sentence

Re: 30 years service
At least one colleague that started in the mid 80s has the same issue with his start date. I think he was Associate Grade(?) for the first 18 months.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑28 May 2025, 17:22Were you a casual initially ? in which case it doesn't count and your actual employment would start from the date of the proper contract.
Shockingly this might be a case of things being better now: a couple of agency who stayed on in 2021 all had their commencement backdated.
The machine stops.

Re: 30 years service
If i remember correctly there was a period when all service was counted.
There is less than 6 months between my casual start date and my contract date (only had 1 week off in that period).
And, as it happens it does not change my seniority position, though there are circumstances where it could.
I chose a £100 gift voucher for my 30 years service.

Well, strictly speaking you could decline it. A poor choice, but a alternative one nonetheless.

Re: 30 years service
Associate grade (AG) was a term used to refer to part time staff.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
