That would be a good point but for one rather obvious thing, namely RM doesn't start and finish at your DO, but is a nation-wide organisation.

So once more for the ones who don't read what I write - POST IN MY D.O. IS UP and if your not working as hard in your MC then maybe you could come out to the local DO to do some deliveries and then you can tell me that there's less. Even Night Tonic agrees there is more to deliver but seems to get hung up on definitions on quantity and volume.

I NEVER said it was rising everywhere I only said it was going up in my DO. Although you seem to have come to a conclusion that because you're not putting as much through you machine then mail everywhere is falling so you should not use that argument.

Everyone keeps saying that they have more bags, more mail.......the other side are saying that mail volumes are dropping & people have more mail because their rounds are larger.
Nobody has said that for each walk the bundles are LARGER! Surely that is incontrovertible proof that there IS MORE MAIL going through our system. I regurlarly find myself splitting down bundles into 2 or 3 separate bundles now, whereas 4 years ago when I first started, that would have been unheard of.
YES, RM aren't getting paid directly for this extra mail, therefore they are discounting it from their calculations. This is just another way of massaging the figures to suit & making it seem like we have never had it so easy. It's a shame that Postcon aren't interested in creating a level playing field so that RM can compete in an unbiased market.
This has been mentioned a few times in this thread,the last revision at my place before the one we're going through now was SDD!!

Actually the original question was "Who believes mail volumes are falling?" so a valid judgement is not required, just a vote wether or not you believe volumes are falling.
It seems to me that Posties on their rounds don't believe volumes are falling as we cant tell when and which postal items are counted as part of the volume or not and therefore we believe that we have seem and increase in the amount of items being delivered.
Others who have access to data and probably a better idea of what RM count as volume believe that volume is down. Never the Twain will meet so the argument and thread is moot.
Perhaps a better question would have been "Are we delivering more mail now than ------ years ago"

Since the first day we were inflicted with Lieton and Crazier, my office has seen a marked increase on weight on delivery. There will be no cuts in walks
at our office, it just wouldn't be feasible, or achievable.
I guess it's all due to the massive downturn in volume of mail.
The trouble with spin is, it's bullshit that's been long since sussed. Well, by most sensible people anyway.

Semantics there, but if you know nothing of the "bigger picture" (as the poster admitted) then it becomes a narrow baseless opinion. Fair enough, but then as the last few posters have so aptly illustrated, stating long and loud that "my bag/walk/DO has more mail than ever before etc etc and you don't know what you're talking about " repeated ad infinitum doesn't make it true.
