They said it was a scoping exercise.Perseus wrote: ↑23 May 2025, 12:00What reason do they even give for asking you?Pidleypoo wrote: ↑23 May 2025, 06:42I have a driving license and I got that a few years after I joined rm.
My contract doesn’t have it in there and I’ve never driven for Royal Mail in any capacity or done any changeover.
I also got the call from my manager about it and picked the last option I was given and that was I’m not a Royal Mail driver and do not want to be.
I know this upsets some people and I agree that if you drive you should get paid more.
But there’s not a single reason for me to drive for this company in those broken down and god awful vans and I won’t.
Unless rm go down all duties will be singleton duties then there’s still a role for us.
I don’t really want just a mon-fri duty either which is usually the gripe about us.
I’ve accepted that I’ll be more tired or fatigued as they keep putting it with these changes and no matter what they say , the Cwu will not in any reasonable way address it.

I believe this is part of the ODM groundwork. Presumably Lead COMs are being asked to draw up proposals for their office so that it can be implemented as quickly as possible (ie, before this Christmas) and non-drivers remain an unresolved impediment they would like to see eliminated. In interviews this morning I understand there were no takers - there remains nothing appealing about it, even the carrot of reduced fatigue or the stick of spending your Saturday afternoon prepping D2D for the entire unit.
The machine stops.

Not sure I'm getting positive vibes from these joint statements full of bureaucratic bloat and buzzword salads. It's classic CWU comms. What does unlocking attendance patterns mean? Will everyone be expected to work Sundays or asked to work later in the day? Will we be forced to take on more? Deployment planning suggests that massive changes are coming and that we just have to deal with it.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Have you not had the 7 options of shift patterns put on display in your office ? Ours have been up for weeks and people are starting to consider the best options for when it comes time to vote.postslippete wrote: ↑24 May 2025, 05:42Not sure I'm getting positive vibes from these joint statements full of bureaucratic bloat and buzzword salads. If there’s not enough drivers to make duty patterns work then what?
My office has over 70 duties and only half drive for company ie…(dine change over)

Re: LTB 102/25 - USO Reform – National Joint Statements/Updated Communication
Good question, one answer is you'll be walking every day rather than rotating onto doing parcels some days, but that won't work for Saturdays, surely they've taken this into account and have a solution, the obvious one is they might say if you can drive then you have to for work or you're redundant, can they do that ?Valentina@1 wrote: ↑25 May 2025, 07:15If there’s not enough drivers to make duty patterns work then what?

MW clearly said nobody will be walking more than 3 days on trot.
How on earth that gonna work?

That’s not possible for non drivers, unless they have a Thursday off every week and rotate the drivers day off. But that’s not how it’s supposed to work.Valentina@1 wrote: ↑25 May 2025, 07:50MW clearly said nobody will be walking more than 3 days on trot.

I think MW actually said 3 days per week not consecutive days but that obviously still won't work for non drivers, I think it's becoming clear they're not wantedSMS1969 wrote: ↑25 May 2025, 09:07That’s not possible for non drivers, unless they have a Thursday off every week and rotate the drivers day off. Re: LTB 102/25 - USO Reform – National Joint Statements/Updated Communication
We started our trial 3 weeks ago.. non drivers do 2 days mail every day - on 1 walk, Mon Wed, Fri, on another walk, Tues Thurs - rotate the following week; on Saturday if it is their Saturday in, they put d2ds in the frames for the unit .. As for the trial itself, mail being brought back, some people left, some seriously considering it, more mail than we should be getting coming into the unit every day (management speak, not mine - something to do with programming), drivers doing 1c and packets on 2 walks can't complete so in some cases they are being allowed to leave the letters and standard packets, resulting in 1c not going out every day as required by the USO change - other than that, everything is hunky dory!

IMO there will never be enough time for drivers to do all the parcels and first class on both rounds, there's just too many drops.jbo5066 wrote: ↑25 May 2025, 10:57We started our trial 3 weeks ago.. non drivers do 2 days mail every day - on 1 walk, Mon Wed, Fri, on another walk, Tues Thurs - rotate the following week; on Saturday if it is their Saturday in, they put d2ds in the frames for the unit ..
