We use the new system daily...only DO in our postcode area to do so.
My first job of the day is to scan the packets in on the new system.
Theres a few new-build roads that aren't added as delivery points yet but we can add them to a DPR route of our choosing. A couple of the longer roads here have issues as well as one end might be on a shared van that has parcels taken to DPR and the other may be on a rural that doesn't. Generally its a case of adding to the correct DPR when the system doesn't recognise it.
The downside is that instead of having 6 DPR ppl scanning their own packets for an hour, we have just me(and lately a few others), scanning and segging the DPR routes for 4-5 hours.
I generally start at 6, scan from 6 and finish around 10-10:30.
This means that as I am starting early, and can't currently book overtime, I have around 3 hours to bundle up and deliver my HCT duty before i've hit my hours. Consequently, most days now I scan, deliver oversized specials and as many of my duties tracked as I can fit around my meal relief. The mail on my duty is being delivered every 2 days by agency.
Once I'm done and the DPR manifests are sent off to the system, the manager can then adjust any oddly placed parcels to a closer route, or move packets between routes to ensure they all have a full days work.
The result is the DPR get loaded and out faster, giving them more time to deliver packets. However my duty doesn't get me delivering it so theres a lack of the knowledge I picked up having done it for a while.
Overall the new system does work pretty well for us...but mainly because we have 1 manager who is championing it and is fairly good with tech, and myself who is keen to give it a fair shot.

Re: New DPR method
Why don't they just employ somebody to do the scanning instead of trying to get you to do two separate jobs? It's typical RM they've probably spent a small fortune burying or developing the software but are too tightfisted to then employ somebody to scan all the items each morning.

Cos the DO is already understaffed. We have new starts quit after a couple of weeks cos they don't realise its a physical jobTopperGas wrote: ↑23 May 2025, 21:59Why don't they just employ somebody to do the scanning instead of trying to get you to do two separate jobs? There was an old guard scanning as he's on light duties awaiting an op...but our early locker guy has injured his back so he's out of action, light duties guy has been trained and moved to the locker, leaving me on scanning.
I recruit people from IPS daily to get it done...the killer is you can't end the scanning wave until HCT's have finished chucking out their ovesized.
Lately a manager has come to finish the scanning so I can get on my frame.
Despite myself and light duties telling the managers...they don't see scanning as a "job"

Re: New DPR method
Wonder if it will stop those DPR drivers who sneak their most awkward deliveries onto another DPR cage when they know a spare is on in, who don't know the round. Got to love caring, kind colleagues.

They'll just get friendly with the scanning person to make sure they don't get them!!PleasedButSticky wrote: ↑28 May 2025, 06:59Wonder if it will stop those DPR drivers who sneak their most awkward deliveries onto another DPR cage when they know a spare is on in, who don't know the round. Re: New DPR method
Right, I''ll make this post in honest truth regarding DPR at my depot.
6 Months ago we never had a dedicated DPR manager until 2 Asian guys showed up and seemed to take control.
Since they took over the mix of agency/angard seems to have taken a dramatic turn in demographics, we had all from Romanians, Ukrainians, Polish, Somalians etc etc, all good workers.
Now 99% are Asians and seem to be brothers of the Asian manager.
He makes them work like dogs and break every single rule going.
I'm spoken to like a f***ing idiot and expected to do things his boys would never do.
His race and skin colour don't bother me but his clear distain for those outside his asian community does.
DOM thinks he's brilliant because every non attempted delivery is falsely scanned as not in or inaccessible.

Re: New DPR method
Other than potentially all coming from the continent of Asia —the largest continent — in what sense do they seem to be “brothers”? Are they Pakistani? Indian? Sri Lankan? Bengali? Chinese? Vietnamese? Are they all from the same country in Asia?
Our office is full of brothers, sisters, cousins, even parents and grandparents, and some of those also happen to be Asian — though nearly overwhelmingly white people — and yet there is nothing wrong with that??

They don't ask me if I'm Irish, English, Scottish or Welsh just assume I'm British.

Yes, I now do: you’re clearly saying, implicitly, that you’re a racist. I wasn’t 100% clear from your first post on the matter, hence my question, but your reply serves to unequivocally confirm that.menditsa wrote: ↑30 May 2025, 22:07You know exactly what I'm saying, stop the bullshit.Smoothbackground wrote: ↑29 May 2025, 04:20Other than potentially all coming from the continent of Asia —the largest continent — in what sense do they seem to be “brothers”?
