POLICE have issued an e-fit picture of a man they want to interview in connection with the armed robbery of a Cash-in-Transit van at 12.20pm on Thursday March 27 outside the post office in Scotter.
The van had left Market Rasen and gone to Scotter when the driver, on returning to his van with the cash collected from the post office, was approached at the front of his red Royal Mail Ford Transit van by two men wearing motorcycle helmets.

The larger of the two men came right up to the driver and produced what appeared to be a shotgun of some kind.

The driver was then pushed into the driver’s seat of his vehicle and instructed to follow a white Seat Inca van driven by a second man, which was parked in front of the delivery vehicle. The armed man then crouched down in the passenger footwell.

The offenders are described as follows: Male 1 (carrying shotgun): Approximately 6 feet tall, stocky build, wearing full face motorcycle helmet. Clothing was described as dark throughout. He was wearing a fluorescent orange vest. Male 2: Similar dark clothing to first man, 5 feet 7 inches in height, medium build, wearing full face motorcycle helmet with visor up throughout offence,

The victim continued to follow the Seat Inca, coming to a stop in a wooded area to the west of Scotter. On coming to a stop, the second man exited the Seat van and came over the Royal Mail van drive
n by the victim.

The victim managed to climb out of his van and ran away in the direction from which they had come. He was not followed by the offenders. He managed to flag down a car at the roadside and persuaded the driver to take him back to the post office at Scotter.

The Seat Inca van which the second man had driven was later found abandoned under the bridge where the M180 crosses the River Trent. It has emerged the Seat was stolen from Fleet Right Car Hire, High Street, Rawmarsh, Rotherham between March 23 and 25. When recovered the Seat was bearing the registration R682 EBE, which is a clone of a similar Seat Inca van in Rotherham. The correct registration for the Seat is YD52NUF.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident at any of the three locations mentioned or anyone with any information to contact them on 01522 885237/5230 or Crimestoppers 0800 555111.
