ah, so like an extended weekend.
I don't think we will have the staff to make most of the options work, so I fully expect a cobbled together slightly better than current attendance patterns.
We weren't given a choice, you might not get one either.
I thought the whole office had to vote on which option, that 2 in 5 is apparently what all the initial trial offices chose

Like I've said, we haven't been given a choice, our walks are too big, the only way to make it work is longer days.

oh, I'm 90% sure we won't be getting a choice. It will be 'computer says', and the thing is, the CWU know that.

Tony Bouch has 1 job and he better get it right otherwise they might as well sack him off.

Make sure the workload fits within our time otherwise the USO is going to be failed and workers are going to be stressed out.

How hard is it for Royal Mail and the CWU to make duties fit within our time....

If they can't do that then the only option is to setup job and finish and we have limits on what we take out with us. None of this nonsense that management do where they force us to take everything out with us or hand us lapsing when it clearly can not be done.

Won't job and finish just make the situation worse? People will belt around their walks, making some walks look achievable, resulting in RM ripping hours out of offices?

2 in 5 wasn't an option for our office, only offered 2 in 6 or 9 day - we chose 2 in 6 - we still get fri/sat off one week with that, then sat/ Mon week after ...

That should be fast tracked to area and national level
They have got to offer you alternate options
All in their agreement

UPDATE AYR PILOT

31 duties failing massively monday
Workloads unachievable
No savings to be made from uso change
In fact request going in for another 6 duties to be made up
Going to cost RM more not less
Still using extra staff and cant even get holiday leave covered
Absolute shambles and chaos

Newton mearns also asking for extra duties due to unachievable workloads
RM have grossly underestimated mail volumes

Because of the demographic of our office other options weren't available - if I remember right, an office full of drivers got the full choice of all the available options...

They have. They have also miscalculated the cost and complexity of the change they’ve been trying to shoe horn in.

They’ll have to admit it’s a mistake soon.

The CWU went into this without checking specific office demographics. People have been saying from the start you need 100% driving staff, practically, to get the best choices.

Well they changed how they counted volumes well over 15 years ago so it's entirely possible statistics and reality have massively deviated since then, but really RM relentlessly overestimates what its staff can achieve/suffer daily.
The machine stops.

It's fairly obvious to posties on the coalface that it's virtually impossible to deliver double mail every single day of the week, make it triple or more on some days and it's a non starter. The original suggestion of cutting existing duties by 20% made far more sense.

This is also probably the quieter periods of the year, what's it going to be like Black Friday onwards??

100 percent agree with this.

From say September to may we've only been able to do one of our deliveries and the tracked off the other in our van share and I’d say a good 50 percent of that time we didn’t even do one full duty.

Only the last couple of weeks have we managed 1 and 1/4 on some days one and a half on other days.

No matter how well or bad these trials are currently going , the real test is from autumn pressure onwards.

Am I correct in anticipating that once we transition to the three of us working together, we'll all have different days off? Currently, we share the same day off with our partner, but would I be
correct in
saying this will change?
