As a non driver who has never had a licence,I've enjoyed reading all the different points of view, some people really don't like non drivers do they and the thought of them possibly doing Monday to Friday has them really really annoyed.
Martin Walsh said "the union are against this because they don't want a two tier workforce" but I personally think Royal mail will push for it saves them a headache deciding what they do with them on a Saturday.
They already made a two tier work force, new starters are already on different salary and work rotas/terms to people who joined earlier. Another thing to thank dodgy dave for.

How do we know that having Sat and Sun off together dont help with the fatigue if its not been trialled for a good period of time?
We did it nationally in May 2020. It was nice but Monday became a nightmare with double mail, which offset the benefits psychologically.
I am very used to double mail, first and second class, every week when I come in from my day off I get double mail as the manager just leaves it in the frame when I'm off. But I don't get fatigued because I leave a quarter of it in the frame and work my time in a pace that is not going to make me fatigued. Come on everyone that is worried about these changes you don't need to be, just go out work your hours and bring back anything you can't deliver in your time. It's that simple. Again don't get stressed about it, don't over exert yourself, do it at a reasonable comfortable pace work your hours go home and forget about royal mail. It's not worth stressing over, we don't get paid enough.

But you won't be leaving a quarter on the frame.
You'll be working a longer day so you have time to do that extra quarter.

Most crazily think 2 in 5 Saturdays is a good enough upgrade. Personally we've been on 1:4 for 15 years or more so don't feel like I'm willing to sacrifice everything for 7 extra Saturdays a year. The 2 in 5 only increases attendance by approx 20 mins a day. With double days every day 20 minutes will barely touch the sides unless rounds are made drastically smaller.
Still waiting for the 'warts and all' expose we were promised from the early deployments. Dressing up a turd is clearly taking a bit longer than Martin thought.

You mean adding 20 mins to the day hasn’t made it possible to do double mail on deliveries that are already ridiculous in size?! Who would have guessed this might have been an issue? I’m shocked.

If you had more information on that it would be appreciated. It’s as if they’ve paid everyone in a pilot office to keep quiet about it.

Who in a small office like that is going to stick their head above the parapet though? If you genuinely think this way of working is going well then you should probably give your head a wobble.

We should be getting a very detailed report on the first office that went 'live' from the CWU, no? Wasn't it around 5-6 weeks ago?

No one thinks it is going well. If it was, they would be shouting from the rooftops. But some details would be good.

How much longer?

Depends on what attendance pattern your office goes with, the modelling assumed 40min on a Monday and 20-25min Tuesday to Friday but the feedback from the pilots is that this isn't enough on the all mail delivery.

With less staff probably at least a 2 hours longer slog that can't even be achieved now, in the same hours every single day of the week apparently. So about 10 hours less per week in reality. But we are all overpaid slackers, so f**k yeah!! :thumbup
